London [UK], Oct 3:English cricketer Ben Stokes was named Player of the Year by the Professional Cricket Association on Wednesday.

Stokes won his outstanding performance award at the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where all terrain had 465 races including 84 (not out) in the final against New Zealand.

The procedure of 50 years or more ended in a draw, but England awarded the winner because they placed more restrictions on the match.

"You can feel proud when you receive this award because it is your teammates who vote for you," Stokes said.

The 28-year-old had won a leadership strike in 135 races in the third test to lead England to Wicket's victory over Australia at Headingley.

He also finished ashes as a man in the England series after scoring 441 runs and taking eight shots.

"While this is an individual award, it is in a team sport, so I am only in this position because of what the other boys in our team have also achieved," he said.
