KXIP appoint Anil Kumble as head coach ahead of IPL 2020

Anil Kumble fifth coach in five seasons. The former coach of India has been put in charge of KXIPS related affairs according to the franchise's co-owner, Mohit Burman.

Former Indian captain Anil Kumble has been appointed as head coach of Kings XI Punjab for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL)2020. Kumble replaces Mike Hesson of New Zealand as head coach of KXIP.

This will be Kumbles third term with an IPL 2020 franchise. He guided the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after retiring from all forms of cricket. He also guided Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful IPL franchise in the year 2013.

KXIP finished sixth on the point table with six wins from 14 games. KXIP also let go of former captain Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of next season. The franchise is yet to win their IPL 2020 title.

Kumble is also expected to be in charge of choosing the new captain for the franchise in the absence of Ashwin.

Recently, the 48-year-old man was one of the members of the Euro T20 Slam inaugural advisory committee. However, due to financial constraints, the league was canceled.
