How will Big Six benefit from the new replacement rule?

The rule change is uneven because 'Big Six' - Liverpool, City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal, and Spurs - have high-quality bench power and can carry peer-to-peer alternatives.IFAB approved the FIFA proposal last month. As the Premier League prepares to restart on June 17, the authorities allowed five substitutions per match, instead of three, in the remaining nine rounds. However, there is a school of thought that changes will work for the great. Is the change in the mid-competition rule legal?Completely legal. Last month, the (IFAB) International Football Association Board approved the FIFA proposal and allowed for a temporary change to the remaining matches of the 2019-20 season. "IFAB agreed to make a temporary amendment to the laws of the game on the basis of a proposal received from FIFA seeking to protect the welfare of players," said the FIFA. Teams will have three chances to make these five replacements and will also be allowed to have nine players on the bench instead of seven. Some Bundesliga clubs used five substitutes after restarting. Why did FIFA suggest the change?FIFA has suggested this keeping in mind managing the player's workload during football after COVID-19. The three-month layoff period affects players' fitness. In addition, a tight schedule increases the risk of infection and there is a risk of excluding players if they become infected with the coronavirus. "The concern in this regard is that the frequency of matches is higher than normal, which may increase the risk of potential injury due to the player's overload," FIFA said in a statement. In the context of the Premier League, why is change so uneven?Simply because "Big Six" - Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur - have high classic bench strength and can withstand similar substitutes. Minor clubs, in terms of money, have no extra wealth. As reported by Telegraph Sport, Wolverhampton Wanderers only used 20 players in this period. Wolves are sixth on the table with 43 points and the change appears to be giving a clear advantage to their four main rivals such as United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Spurs. Leicester City, currently third with 53 points, has used 21 players so far. United, on the other hand, used 25 in the Premier League, while Chelsea used 24.Has any club opposed change?Yes, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and West Ham United have reportedly voted against change. They are all caught in downhill scrap. For example, on July 1, West Ham is scheduled to play against Chelsea. Now, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has the option of resorting to players such as Antonio Rudiger, Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, or Olivier Giroud if he wants to spin his players. On the other hand, Hammers manager David Moyes may have to resort to someone like Ben Johnson who has not yet played a minute in the Premier League this season. How did the change work in Bundesliga? The German Bundesliga has benefited from this in terms of workload management and intensity maintenance. "You can see in the first games that after 60 or 70 minutes, the players were really tired because there were no preparations or friendly matches." It was a really good thing. "We have avoided injuries," Simon Rolfs, sports director of Bayer Leverkusen, was quoted by the Telegraph Sport newspaper as saying.article source: indianexpressimg source: usa today postAlso Read: Premier League allows 5 substitutes when season restarts

Liverpool crowned the Premier League champion after Manchester City lost their match against Chelsea.Liverpool crowned the Premier League champions without kicking the ball on Thursday when Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Manchester City ended their 30-year wait to win the English title. Jurgen Klopp's men concluded the 19th league title in the club with seven games to play after second place city's defeat leaving them with 23 points. Liverpool moved into two points from the title with Crystal Palace 4-0 demolished in Anfield on Wednesday.Their twenty-eighth victory in 31 league games this season led Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah to the announcement "It is our time to win the league" and 24 hours later his wish was granted.Liverpool got the benefit they wanted from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.Willian's 78th-minute penalty, awarded by Fernandinho's handball, ended the city's reign which was for two years as champions after Kevin de Bruyne canceled the first match of Christian Polisic.Liverpool won the title before any other Premier League champion, breaking the previous record of five games left by City and Manchester United. It was a painful wait for Liverpool fans around the world, as the coronavirus gap forced them to put the champion on ice after the Premier League suspension in March with the Club team winning two titles. The delay of three months was the last hurdle on the road to Liverpool's long journey to the summit of English football.Liverpool spent years with rivals Manchester United during the Alex Ferguson era before falling behind due to the massive spending from Manchester City and Chelsea. Then, managed by Brendan Rodgers, they missed a notorious golden opportunity to win the title in 2014 when Reds captain Stephen Gerrard made a costly slip in losing the late-season against Chelsea. But the Klopp's team deserved the heroes after an amazing campaign that could end in record style.Klopp's men can break the record for the highest winning margin, which City scored when they finished 19 clear points at the top in the same season. They are also within walking distance of most Premier League wins: 32 by city in 2017/18 and 2018/19.We can play wellKlopp, the first German coach to win the Premier League, has been the architect of the Liverpool Renaissance since the former Borussia Dortmund head arrived at Anfield in 2015.Influenced by his players' belief in "heavy metal" soccer and his "fast-paced" plan, the magical Klopp took its place alongside Liverpool's iconic managers Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, and Kenny Dalglish. When Dalglish brought Liverpool to the title in 1990, the award Shankly once described as "bread and butter" for the club. After years of poor performance, Klopp returned in his unique style and brought trophies to Liverpool. They won the Champions League last season when they beat Tottenham in the final, 12 months after losing to Real Madrid in the same stage of the competition. It was fitting for Liverpool to save one of its most striking offers for the week in which it won the title. After the palace was destroyed, Klopp said: "Imagine if the stadium were full and people would have experienced it live. It would have been amazing."Article source: ndtvAlso Read: FSU Football News: Tayon Holloway offered by Florida State

Villarreal Edge Manchester United In Epic Penalty Shootout To Win Maiden Europa League Title

Villarreal beat Manchester United 11-10 on penalties to win their first major title after tying 1-1 in the Europa League final when goalkeeper David De Gea missed the decisive shot with a superb penalty shootout. Gerrard Moreno put Villarreal ahead in the 29th minute of the Spanish club's first European final, but Edinson Cavani equalized early in the second half before Unai Emery's side won with a penalty kick, prolonging the drought. Injured Eric Bailey replaced Harry Maguire at the center of defense, and the United captain was surprisingly among the substitutes despite suffering an ankle ligament injury two weeks ago.De Gea started to lead ahead of Dean Henderson on goal, while Paul Pogba played a more traditional role in midfield as Fred was deemed fit enough to have a seat on the bench. An early collision between Juan Foyth and Pogba caused a bloodshot injury to the former Tottenham defender, but both sides were slow to press ahead on a cold, wet night on the Baltic coast.Rapona's brilliant cross by Carlos Bacca created an opportunity for Pau Torres, the center back with a linked summer pass to Man United, while Marcus Rashford Jeronimo Rulli tested with immersion effort from a distance.Jeremy Pino, who broke Iker Casillas' record as the youngest Spanish player to start a major European final, at 18 years and 218 days, veered against him, but Villarreal quickly got ahead of him.Danny Parejo hit a free-kick from the left flank and Moreno ran away from Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof, bypassing De Gea while the Swede tightened his shirt tight.Moreno equalized the 82nd goal in Villarreal, the club's record for ex-Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi. But it also sparked a reaction from United, as fighter Scott McTominay saw his shot derailed before Mason Greenwood stormed the area and sent a powerful cross that Raul Albiol almost hit his net.Another free-kick from Parejo caused panic in the United area just after the break, with Mano Trejoeros sending a cross into the goal before clearing the ball with Moreno and Carlos Bacca in dangerously lurking.Maybe Alfonso Pedraza was lucky because no further action was taken when he appeared to be hunting Greenwood in the Villarreal area, even though United took advantage of a stroke of luck. And a header fell from a corner kick in front of Rashford, whose air volley slipped through Cavani went into the net with Rowley unable to recover after anticipating the first shot.It was Uruguay's sixth goal in the competition this season, and all of that in their last four matches, one that gave United the momentum.Bruno Fernandez hit the ball wide while Cavani tried unsuccessfully to quickly reset the ball, then the striker headed straight for Torres with a missed shot from Shaw.United continued to control the ball as Villarreal absorbed the pressure, but the Spaniards remained a threat as Torres gathered at the end of organizational time.Alberto Moreno cut wide as United got tired, prompting Solskjaer to make his first changeover 100 minutes later when Fred replaced Greenwood. The first 21 penalties were converted successfully before Rolle refused De Gea's bid as United lost for the sixth time in seven sets, giving Emery their fourth European League title. Also read: FIFA Club World Cup 2020-21: Teams, fixtures, dates & where will it take place                 FIFA U-17 Womens World Cup To Be Held In India In Oct 22: FIFA

European Court of Justice rules FIFA, UEFA breached EU Law over Super League ban

The Super League project received a massive boost from the European Court of Justice and could have a huge impact on the future of football. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) on Thursday gave a huge boost to the Super League project, by passing a landmark ruling that UEFA and FIFA contravened EU laws by preventing the formation for Florentino Perez' pet project. This ruling could change the future of football and will be good news for European clubs that proposed forming the breakaway league. When the news first developed, it received widespread protests from angry fans and UEFA even threatened sanctions if the clubs went ahead with the plan, and nine sides pulled out.In their ruling, the EFJ stated that FIFA and UEFA abused their dominant position by preventing clubs from competing in a European Super League. Despite the ruling, it is still not confirmed if the Super League project will be approved as the court did not rule on it specifically.Real Madrid, BArcelona, Juventus and nine other top European clubs announced the ESL in April 2021. But the move collapsed within 48 hours after massive outcry from fans, governments and players. The clubs also included Manchester United, Manchester United,Liverpool,Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid.Meanwhile, A22, a sports development company, which was made to assist the ESL, had stated that FIFA was holding a monopoly position with UEFA, which breached the EU's Competition and Free Movement Law.UEFA stated that the ruling didn't validate the ESL. It further added that its new rules would comply with all relevant European laws and regulations. The court said that FIFA and UEFA must 'comply with the competition rules and respect the freedoms of movement', adding that their rules on approval, control and sanctions amounted to 'unjustified restrictions on the freedom to provide services.'"That does not mean that a competition such as the Super League project must necessarily be approved. The Court, having been asked generally about the FIFA and UEFA rules, does not rule on that specific project in its judgment," the court further added.Meanwhile, only two clubs are left from the original ESL plan, and they haven't pulled out; Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both clubs took the ase to a Spanish court. After the ruling, Real Madrid president Perez said, "The present and future of European football are finally in the hands of the clubs, the players and their fans."Also Read: 'Rohit Sharma Is A Question Mark...': Ex-India Star's Stunning Claim Amid MI Captaincy Row
