The Road Safety World Series is a T20 tournament that has been organized to promote road safety. The first-ever season of the Road Safety league is going to be played this year starting from 2nd February 2020 till 16th February 2020. The league will be held in the cities of Mumbai and Pune.The league will feature some of the top cricket legends of the past who have made their respective countries proud. The tournament has been announced recently at a mega event held in Mumbai. This league aims to promote road safety all across the world. The tournament will have a total of 10 matches in which the teams will play against each other and there will be a final in the end.It has been announced that the proceeds from the tournament are going to be given to the Road Safety Cell so as to promote the cause. This is also aimed at highlighting India's high rank when it comes to deaths caused by road accidents. Cricket is the most popular sport in our country and the cricketers are followers as idols. This is the reason why this league will help create awareness about road safety in the country as well as change the mindset of people regarding behavior on the roads.Read More: Tendulkar Versus Lara In Road Safety World Series OpenerSome of the most popular names who will feature in the Road Safety World Series include Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Jonty Rhodes, and Virender Sehwag.The event has been organized by the Professional Management Group and the Road Safety Cell of the Maharashtra government. The league will be played between six teams including India Legends, Australia Legends, South Africa Legends, Sri Lanka Legends and West Indies Legends.The league has been launched in the city of Mumbai on Thursday, 30th January 2020 under the presence of the five-team captains including India's Tendulkar, West Indies great Brian Lara, Australian pacer Brett Lee, South Africa’s Jonty Rhodes, and Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan. Along with them, Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar will also be present there who will be the league’s commissioner.The Indian team will include players, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, and Ajit Agarkar. It has been expected that Jacques Kallis will be playing for the South African team and Muttiah Muralitharan may also become a part of this competition.Brett Lee has been designated as the captain of the Australian team. He said in a statement that he can easily guarantee is that this tournament is going to be very competitive even though the participants have given up playing international cricket. The final list of the participating players has been revealed and a total of 110 retired cricket players from these five countries are going to be taking part in this league.The Road Safety World Series 2020 will be streaming live on Viacom 18. It is the official broadcasting partner of the league. Colors Cineplex will broadcast all the matches of the league till 16th February.
