Former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor made a big reveal on Twitter on Monday (24 January). Taylor reveals how an Indian "businessman" tricked her into taking steroids and then blackmailed her. The cricketer also revealed that fraud threatened him with discouragement points spot-fixing in international matches. This had a serious impact on the veteran's physical and mental health, so he will undergo rehab on January 25 to get his life back on track.

The incident dates back to October 2019, when Zimbabwean players were facing a financial crisis due to non-payment of fees by the National Council. In fact, the International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Zimbabwe after the country's cricket board, Zimbabwe Cricket Council (ZC), could not rule out government interference in the board's running. This is why there are dark clouds over the country's cricketers.

At the same time, an Indian "entrepreneur" contacted Taylor about sponsorship and a possible launch of the T20 competition in Zimbabwe. The cricketer also received INR 15,000 for his visit to India.

Brendan Taylor misses a trap

“I cannot deny that I was a bit cautious. But the timing was like Zimbabwe Cricket had not paid us for 6 months and it was doubtful that Zimbabwe could continue to play on the international stage. So I traveled. The discussion took place as he said, and last night in the hotel, the businessman and his colleagues invited me to dinner to celebrate,” Taylor wrote in the statement.

Brendan then reveals that the fraud drove him to take drugs and then filmed the whole incident to blackmail him. "We had a drink and during the night he openly gave me cocaine, which he himself was involved in and I foolishly took the bait," Taylor said.

"The next morning, the same people broke into my hotel room and showed me a video the night before taking cocaine and told me that if I didn't fix them international matches, the video would be released to the public." The whole incident put the cricketer in a horrific state of mind, and he claimed that he is not involved in any kind of arrangement.

Meanwhile, Taylor also stated that the ICC was ready to impose a multi-year ban on him and would accept it. He also urged young people to learn from history so as not to fall into any of those traps.

He said, “I want to go on record that I have not been involved in any kind of match-fixing. I can be many things but I am not a cheater. My love for the beautiful match of cricket far outweighs any danger that might come my way,” said the 35-year-old.
