The ICC World Cup is a very well-known global championship of ODI cricket. This event is organized by ICC every four years and it is one of the most viewed sporting events. The 1st World Cup held in the year 1975 in England where eight teams were competing for each other in the tournament. In all the World Cups which are held till now, there are five different cricket teams who have won the match. The Australian team has won the World Cup trophy for the five times and they have set a record for the competitors. West Indies has been able to win this trophy for two times in the beginning. India has been able to win the trophy two times while Sri Lanka and Pakistan have won it one time each.

In the year 1975, it was known as, The Prudential World Cup and was played in England and even this year, it is going to be hosted by England. So, ICC took the decision to exclude two teams from World Cup 2011 and they divided fourteen teams into two groups among which top 4 teams will be qualified for the Quarterfinals. This brought more matches during the early stages of World cup tournament and more knockout rounds were added to gain the interest of crowds.

  • In the year 1999, Pakistan lost a match from Australia by eight wickets.
  • In the year 2003, India and Australia played the final match where Australia won by 125 runs.
  • In the year 2007, Sri Lanka and Australia played the final match when Australia again won by 53 runs.
  • In the year 2011, India won the match by 6 wickets from Sri Lanka.
  • In 2015, the world cup trophy was won by Australia from New Zealand.

There wasnt much idea about the Cricket world cup winners when the tournaments were held before and there is no idea about this time winner.
