Before the tournament, a mini IPL auction will be held in Chennai on February 18th to purchase players released by the eight franchises of the Indian Premier League. IPL Player Registration closed on February 4, 2021, with 814 Indian players and 283 foreigners registered to be part of the IPL 2021 Players Auction. The auction will start at 3:00 PM.

IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Wednesday released some of the oldest players. CSK now has a purse of Rs 22.9 cr. CSK has decided to retain its core team of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja. The three-time IPL champions have also given a contract to Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Narayan Jagadeeshan.

IPL 2021: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retain 12 members of their IPL 2020 squad and the likes of Aaron Finch and Moeen Ali have been released from the squad. The likes of Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers, and Yuzvendra Chahal will be seen for RCB this season. While key performers of last season like Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj have also been retained. Australia limited-overs skipper Finch and England all-rounder Moeen Ali along with South Africa’s Chris Morris has been shown the door.

IPL 2021: Mumbai Indian (MI): Defending champions Mumbai Indians have released as many as seven names which include Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga, Kiwi quick Mitchell McClenaghan, Australian Nathan Coulter-Nile and his countryman James Pattinson, their Guyanese all-rounder Sherfane Rutherford, uncapped leg-spinner Prince Balwant Rai and fast bowler Digvijay Deshmukh from the team for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

The defending champions, who won a record fifth title in 2020, now have 18 players in their squad with seven spots open which can be filled in the mini-auction.

IPL 2021: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday announced the retained and released list of players. KKR have retained most of their key players like Eoin Morgan, Pat Cummins, and Shubman Gill, etc, while they have released Tom Banton, Chris Green, Siddesh Lad, Nikhil Naik, M Siddarth. Kolkata Knight Riders now have Rs 10.85 crore in their wallet for IPL 2021 Auction.

IPL 2021:  Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): Ahead of the upcoming mini-auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, SunRisers Hyderabad on Wednesday retained most of its players from the 2020 squad and only five players have been released. No big names have been let go and only players like Fabien Allen and Billy Stanlake have been shown the door ahead of the upcoming season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad now has a remaining purse of 10.75cr.

IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals has retained 17 players which include a good mix of Indian and international players. Apart from Smith, the Royals have released seven players including Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Varun Aaron, and Tom Curran. The foreign list of retained players includes Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Jofra Archer. All three English players performed well for the Royals in the last tournament and have been good contributors to the team in the past three years.
