IPL Auctions 2021 - No major sponsor on board yet:The biggest cricket league in the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL), once again has no sponsors. The relationship between IPL and title sponsor Dream11 ended on December 31 with a very remote chance to renew the deal with the flagship fantasy platform. Neither the official IPL website (Iplt20.com) nor any of the IPL press releases bear the Dream11 name or logo.Senior BCCI Officer in Sponsor Status IPL 2021. We are told that it is likely that the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) will make a new bid for the main sponsor, as a return to the former sponsors VIVO is not possible."Bidding for the new main sponsor is the only possible option currently available. The IPL deal for 2020 was almost half of it and we cannot continue it. A return to LIVE is also unlikely in the current situation. A Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry official said:" The final decision will be made on the new bid. And sponsor the title soon. "It should be noted that BCCI suspended its 440 Cr sponsorship deal with VIVO in the wake of anti-China sentiment ahead of IPL 2020. This led to Dream11 entering as a title sponsor, but for 222Cr, which is nearly half the price of the VIVO bargain. While signing the agreement, Dream11 tried to negotiate with BCCI to extend the rights to IPL 2022 also at the same price. But BCCI held up and the deal was eventually signed for only one season, i.e. IPL 2020.Will the auction take place without the main sponsor on board? The Board of Directors decided to hold the IPL Auctions 2021 on February 18th in Chennai, which is less than 3 weeks old. It will be difficult for BCCI to terminate the main sponsor before IPL auctions 2021.The IPL Auction is a widely broadcast and televised event in which the Main Sponsor, in particular, earns a large number of Miles and it currently appears that the auction in Chennai will be held without the Main Sponsor.Options with BCCI -1) Renegotiate the deal with Dream11:- Seems unlikely. This could put BCCI in a legal mess. The title sponsorship tender published by BCCI prior to the IPL 2020 was for only one year and if BCCI decided to renegotiate the agreement with Dream11 for another year, that would be contrary to the terms of the bid and could be challenged by the competing parties.2) Return to VIVO:- BCCI has all contractual rights to return to VIVO as the main sponsor. But the question is, will they risk defying the public sentiment that is still against China and Chinese companies? Once again, the choice appears unlikely.3) Bid for the main sponsor:-This appears to be the most feasible option in the current circumstances. This gives everyone involved a fair chance. Even BCCI can get a prime sponsor of similar value to what VIVO promised thanks to the massive audience numbers of IPL 2020.The problem with choice is lack of time. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) is unlikely to launch a tender in the next few days and complete the paperwork ahead of IPL auctions 2021.So don't be surprised if auctions for the world's largest cricket league take place without a major sponsor on board on February 18.Also Read: India vs England 2021 | England tour of India Full Schedule, venue, dates - All you need to know

IPL 2021 Big Update: VIVO to transfer IPL title rights

IPL 2021 Big Update: Chinese mobile maker Vivo, which has suspended its IPL sponsorship rights for the 2020 edition, is considering exiting the Indian Premier League by transferring its rights to Interested bidders, which may include Dream11 fantasy gaming platform and startup Unacademy Tech Education.Dream11 was the IPL title sponsor for the 2020 release, taking the rights to Rs 222 crore, which is nearly half (Rs 440 crore) of what Vivo paid annually for a five-year contract. It is understood that in the prevailing situation where the geopolitical relations between China and India are in a delicate state, Vivo realizes that it is unwise to continue the partnership for the remaining two years.“It is almost final for Vivo to exit the IPL address sponsorship agreement by mutual consent with the board. It has been suspended for the 2020 edition. However, there is a clause that allows them to transfer their outstanding responsibilities as sole sponsors for the title to the new winner. If the board agrees in principle, it could happen. This was stated by a senior source in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to PTI on condition of anonymity. With the IPL set to expand 9 or 10 teams in 2022, the new bidder is expected to secure the title sponsorship rights for at least three years.Dream11 and Unacademy will present their offerings to Vivo. In any case, Unacademy is an associated sponsor and is willing to offer a larger sum to acquire the rights to Vivo, ”said an industry expert who has been tracking developments.MPL, who is the sponsor team for Team India, is known to be unable to choose Title Sponsorship because Dream11 was a Senior Partner and will have what they call in the sponsorship language "Category Exclusive".BCCI bosses hope that a clearer picture will emerge by the end of the week once Vivo has a tangible final presentation.“See, Vivo paid nearly 440 crores (Rs 2,190 crores for 5 years). Now, if BCCI calls for bids, like last year when Dream11 paid Rs 222 crores, it might go up, but it can't be doubled. But if it is There is a transfer of rights, so the previous amount can be equalized or even improved. The IPL Auction will take place on February 18th in Chennai with a maximum of 61 available spaces."Since the transfer of property rights will take some time, it is expected that the Vivo logo will be used during the auction on February 18th."Also Read: IPL 2021 AUCTIONS: BCCI IN A FIX, AUCTIONS LIKELY TO BE CONDUCTED WITHOUT A IPL TITLE SPONSOR ON BOARD

IPL 2021: Bad news for CSK, front-jersey deal with Skoda falls apart, Myntra now front-runner

IPL 2021 – CSK Skoda deal falls apart: The Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) did not start well for MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings. First, Mutout, the long-term front-shirt partner refused to renew the title sponsorship contract with Team Doni. Now the deal with Czech car manufacturer Skoda has collapsed in favor of CSK.It is noteworthy that Skoda has been reported to have signed a 25 Cr deal with CSK as the main sponsor of IPL 2021. But for unknown reasons, Skoda decided to withdraw from the deal. According to CSK management sources, online fashion company Myntra is listed as CSK's new senior partner for this season. We contacted Myntra management, but they declined to confirm the development. It is worth noting that the agreement between CSK-Myntra will be in the range of 22-23 kronor, which is slightly less than what CSK expected from the market.Founded in 2007, Flipkart acquired Myntra in 2014. The company later acquired the online fashion store Jabong in 2016. Since then, it has grown into one of the largest online fashion sites in the country. Is performance the reason why CSK is struggling with sponsorships?MS Dhoni’s CSK has always been a hit with sponsors. Three of the IPL champions did not fight for endorsements. According to some industry experts, things have changed now. Team performance in the IPL 2020 and team age may influence the CSK this year according to a few experts.“IPL is all about performance. When CSK was performing, Dhoni was on top of the world – brands were lining up CSK’s doors. With performance getting patchy by the day and Dhoni in retirement mode – it will be a little tough for CSK this year”, according to one of the top industry experts dealing in IPL team sponsorships since its inception.CSK’s squad for IPL 2021CSK retained players – MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, N Jagadeesan, Faf Du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sam Curran, Ravi Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma, KM Asif, Imran Tahir, R. IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant likely to captain Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, promoters & coach to take final call

With India striker Shreyas Iyer excluded from current Ind vs Eng series and unlikely to be available for IPL 2021, the big question is who will lead Delhi Capitals in this year's IPL. According to sources at Delhi Capitals (DC), Rishabh Pant, India's biggest match-winner of the past six months, is likely to be responsible for driving DC during the season.Based on the information available, DC promoters Kiran Kumar Gandhi and Barth Jindal in consultation with Coach Ricky Ponting will receive the last call soon."The team is still gathering all the information about Shreyas' injury case. The team promoters and head coach will make the final decision on who will coach us, but it is clear that Rishabh Pant Deputy Commander should be the automatic selection," said one of the sources closely associated with the Delhi Capitals.Besides Pant, Delhi Capitals has a few other candidates such as Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, Shikhar Dhawan, and R Ashwin in the team who have had experience with a leading IPL franchise in the past, but DC is unlikely to look to another source. . Beyond the pant.According to the source, the Delhi Capitals management is likely to announce the name of the new captain before the end of this week.IPL 2021: What is the status of Shreyas Aire? Will it be available for the second stage of the IPL?Shreyas Iyer dislocated his shoulder while playing during the first ODI match between India and England on Tuesday. Based on the information available, Ayer is currently in severe pain and is likely to undergo surgery. In the event that Iyer undergoes surgery, he will be out of the game for at least 4 months. As a second scenario, if surgery is not required, it will take at least 6 to 8 weeks to return. In both scenarios, Iyer is unlikely to appear in IPL 202I this year."You will have to undergo surgery. So it not only looks like the first part of an IPL, but Iyer will miss the IPL completely. It could take at least four months before you can go online again. A source said the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry" Severe pain. "Iyer took the helm of the Delhi team in mid-2018 and under his leadership, the team has performed well since then, once they reached the play-off rounds as well as last season.Ayer is unlikely to play for English County Lancashire in the one-day tournament. On Monday, Lancashire announced that Iyer would sign the tournament, starting July 23.Iyer, 26, suffered the injury in the eighth inning of England when he dived into Johnny Bayerstow's blast from Chardoll Thakur's pacemaker. He looked with great pain as he left the field, clutching his shoulder.DC will not only miss Ayer as the leader but also as a formidable hitter. Iyer earned a prolific IPL for 2020 and was the fourth-highest goalscorer of the season with a total of 519 passes behind KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner. The Capitals' first match is day two of the 2021 FIFA World Cup ™, against the Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai. Also Read: IPL 2021: Star Sports to broadcast IPL 2021 in 8 languages on 24-25 Disney Star channels

IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals promoters call emergency meeting to decide on captain for 14th edition of IPL

With DC captain Shreyas Air disqualified for the entire IPL season, the Delhi Capitals management called an emergency meeting to decide on the seasoned captain. Based on the information available, DC promoters Kiran Kumar Gandhi and Barth Jindal along with Coach Ricky Bunting will be participating in a conference call today to decide on the captain's name for the IPL 2021.We were informed on Thursday that Rishabh Pant is the preferred candidate to lead the Delhi Capitals. The DC promoters, the coach, and a few other members of the administration will likely give their stamp of approval to the same, although according to the sources, deliberations on some other names are not excluded."The team promoters and the head coach will make the final decision on who will coach us, but it is clear that Rishabh Pant Deputy Commander should be the automatic choice," said one of the sources closely associated with Delhi Capitals.IPL 2021 Delhi Capitals Captaincy – Names that can be discussed for captaincy role?Besides Pant, the capitals of Delhi currently have several options for the position of captain. They have Ajinkya Rahane, Steven Smith, and R Ashwin in their ranks. All of these names have experience from the leading IPL franchise in the past, but the source told us that DC is unlikely to look beyond Pant.Of all the potential candidates, only Pant is not an IPL franchise yet.Ashwin - Leading Indian superstar KingsXI Punjab for two seasons in 2018, 2019. Overall, Ashwin has 28 games experience, 12 wins, and 16 lost. His record for KXIP was not overly encouraging. Although considered one of the game's best readers, DC is unlikely to hold back in handing the Captain to a player who has failed as captain with some other perks.Stephen Smith - 43 games, 25 won, lost 17. Smith has a lot of experience driving the IPL franchises, but what works against him is that his place in the squad is not very secure. He also failed to live up to expectations as captain of the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020; There is no chance that the metropolitan administration will give Smith leadershipAjinkya Rahane - Highly successful as captain of the Indian Test Team in Australia. But he has had a captain disaster for the Rajasthan Royals, he's unlikely to go with Rahani as captain. His team captain's record says: 25 matches: 9 won and 16 lost.By comparison, Rishabh Pant has never led the IPL franchise, but her enthusiasm, current form and most importantly, aggressive mindset works in her favor. Additionally, DC has groomed him as a future leader over the past two years by appointing him as Deputy Leader in 2019, 2020. All this indicates that the Delhi team is unlikely to look beyond Pant to gain the lead role.IPL 2021: DC Captain Shreyas Iyer to undergo surgery on April 8thIPL 2021 - Shreyas Iyer Injury: The Shreyas Iyer injured shoulder has been confirmed ready for surgery. According to information from BCCI sources, Iyer's surgery will take place on April 8 and will not only miss the IPL 2021, but also will not be available for the England tour. The Delhi Capital captain dislocated his shoulder on Monday while playing during the first international match of the England Series. Now, in consultation with the BCCI medical team, it is decided that Iyer will have the surgery on April 8th. Understandably, Iyer has likely been out of cricket for at least a few months, thus erasing any hopes the capitals had that he would return during the second half of IPL 2021, which will be played in India between April 9 and April 30. May.On Thursday, only the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry confirmed Iyer was excluded from the ongoing ODI series of three-way matches against England without revealing any details about the injury, as well as the surgery. Lear also wished a "speedy recovery" in response to a tweet from the Indian batsman, who said that he "will return soon."

IPL 2021 New Rules: BCCI confirms 90-minute time restriction and no soft signal

  • Mar 30, 2021
  • pitchhigh
  • 783

IPL 2021 New Rules: The BCCI said, in its revised IPL 2021 playing terms, which have been traded among franchisees, that 20 must be completed within 90 minutes. Previously, you should have started the 22nd in the 90th minute.According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI said: "As a match control measure, the number 20 has been included in each half now at 90 minutes, and the 22nd previously had to start at the 90th minute or earlier."In developing this point, the BCCI said: “The minimum bonus rate to be achieved in IPL matches would be 14.11 hourly bonuses (ignoring the time-out required). In non-stop matches, this means that the 20th Final must end within 90 minutes (85 minutes of playing time plus 5 minutes of time-out) from the start of the innings. For late-stage or intermittent matches in which the turn is scheduled to be less than 20 bonuses, the maximum time of 90 minutes will be reduced by 4 minutes and 15 seconds for each time the innings are reduced. "By thinking more about timing, the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry entrusted him with the responsibility of ensuring the verdict of the fourth referee and giving him the power to warn the hitter if he indulged in time-wasting tactics. "In the event that time allocations are given to the field team under clause 12.7.3.4 above (loss of time by the hitting team), this time will be deducted from the allocations granted to the hitting team mentioned in determining your surplus rate. The fourth referee must ensure that the leader of the hitting (if not He is not at the gate) and the team manager is aware of any warnings. "IPL 2021 New Rules: 90-minute time restriction and no soft signalBCCI removed the soft signal base in the IPL. According to the new rule, the soft signal from the court ruling will not affect the third ruling. The BCCI stated that “a field judgment that gives a soft signal when the decision is referred to the third referee will not be applicable”.Reflecting on this, the BCCI said: “If both officials in the field need the help of the third referee to make a decision, the final referee of the shooter will first make a decision on the field after consulting with the referee's final referee. Forward, before consulting with a two-way radio with The third verdictSuch consultation will be initiated by the final referee of the player aiming for the third referee by making the shape of the TV screen with his own hands. The third referee will determine whether the hitter has been caught, whether the pitch is a hit, or whether the hitter has intentionally obstructed the field. In the event of a fair reception, the third referee will use all available technical support. The third referee will inform his decision. "IPL 2021 New Rules: 90-minute time restriction and no soft signalThere was a clamor to abolish the soft signal in the cricket world and it was India's patron Virat Kohli who spoke out the most against Al Qaeda. He was also against the ruling on LBW's decisions, but BCCI decided to go ahead. "The referee's call is the concept within the DRS according to which the final referee's decision will remain on the field, and which will be applied under the specified circumstances where the ball-tracking technology indicates a marginal decision regarding the area of influence or the wicket zone (sic)."The BCCI also revised the short-term decision of the arbitrators. The third referee is authorized to override the outside referee's decision to reduce one set of the hitting team's total. There were a lot of controversies last year during the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Delhi Capitals match where a short-term decision proved incorrect by the square match referee was costly to the Punjab team.New IPL 2021 Rules: BCCI emphasizes a 90-minute time restriction and no weak signal. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the changes will take effect on April 1.Also Read: IPL 2021: DELHI CAPITALS PROMOTERS CALL EMERGENCY MEETING TO DECIDE ON CAPTAIN FOR 14TH EDITION OF IPL

Not only that, but according to the information available with the official BCCI broadcaster, Star Sports has also filed a RED-FLAG with the Indian Council on the Covid-19 case in Mumbai. He reported that the test results of 8 ground crew members were positive on Friday, but now the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry sources confirmed that the number has risen to 10. “Yes, yesterday there were 8 positive cases with regard to the ground crew. Today, two positive cases appeared, and the men were returned to Their country and isolated "  According to a senior MCA official, “We are bringing in fresh soil personnel from Mumbai CA plant in Kandivali for preparations. Not only that but now, about 8 members of the event management team have also tested positive for COVID-19 and have been sent to isolation. “Yes, it is true. Between 8 and 10 members of the event crew has also been confirmed infected,” confirmed an official in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.IPL 2021: BCCI in fix as broadcaster Star Sports also raise red-flag, Devdutt Padikkal & Axar Patel tests positiveWe have reliably learned from sources at both BCCI and Star Sports, that the broadcaster is extremely concerned about the worsening Covid-19 situation in Mumbai. The source added that senior officials in the official radio contacted the Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday morning and explained their concerns.  "Starr is concerned about his broadcast equipment. If the ground crew and event management team contract Covid-19, the same could happen to the Star crew, as they have to closely mingle with the ground crew and the event crew. So Starr is very concerned about the situation."When a senior official in the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry was asked about the situation, he admitted that the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry feels real concern. “Look, even if there is a lockdown, the teams are working in biobubbles and it is also a closed event. So, we remain confident that the IPL matches in Mumbai will be held on schedule with the Delhi Capitals playing the Chennai Super. Kings on April 10 the second day. From the tournament."But Hyderabad and Indore are waiting in case the situation gets out of control," the official told PTI on Saturday.Indore and Hyderabad remained as waiting places for IPL should the COVID case spiral out of control. Mumbai is set to host 10 matches in the money-rich league. With more than 47,000 cases on Friday, Maharashtra is considering a possible lockdown situation. Of concern to the organizers, the number of employees in Wankhede increased from 8 to 10 between Friday night and Saturday morning.IPL 2021: Teams based out of Mumbai also getting very concerned about the situationAs of now, none of the teams currently in Mumbai (Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indian Indian, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings) have access to Wankhede. "Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, for example, take turns training at Braburen Stadium and at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). KKR trains in Navi Mumbai at DY Patil before departing for Chennai," the official said. The BCCI Medical Unit is expected to improve the testing rate due to the increase in cases in the state. Event management and IPL operations until last year were handled by IMG, but as of this year, the board is managing the event on its own."We have enough backup staff to deal with them, as we have taken into account that the situation in Mumbai is bleak at the moment. But yes, we are monitoring the situation closely."Also Read: IPL 2021: CSK STARTS IPL 2021 ON A BAD NOTE, PACER JOSH HAZLEWOOD PULLS OUT OF IPL

Even last season in the UAE, there were some similar events in the run-up to the event, but once the tournament kicked off, everything was fine."We have the necessary permission and guarantees from the state government to conduct the games there. Mumbai will only host ten matches between April 10 and 25 and there will be no cause for concern inside the vital bubble. The president of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) insisted that we are in a well-secured position and the players will be The support staff are safe.Meanwhile, Maharashtrian State Government Minister Nawab Malik confirmed Monday that the IPL matches will be held in Mumbai as planned, but permits are conditional. Hindi Mumbai and Royal Challengers Bangalore are two of the best teams to watch out for in any version of IPL. IPL 2021 RR Playing XI vs PBKS: Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler ready to open for Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will begin their 2021 IPL campaign on Monday at Wankhede Stadium. RR will take the field under new leadership led by Kumar Sangakkara and led by Sanju Samson. His first assignment will be to pick a strong and stable starting pair, a crucial factor behind the inaugural champion's poor performance last season.Based on the news coming from the Royals' camouflage, it's very likely that RR will choose the UK bursting duo Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Skipper Samson, while unwilling to reveal his cards publicly, said junior players will have a long rope this season."It depends. I can't tell you anything. I and Sanja (Kara) will try to provide the best combination for our team and in fact it is always necessary to give the spouses or individuals enough time in the tournament. So I think it will show a little. Of stability, the rest depends on the way we go." Sanju Samson stated."I think it is a decision that we will make with the total purchase of the players involved. We want to keep our options open. The most important thing is for the players to be clearly informed of their choices and make them abide by them." Said RR Manager Cricket Kumar SangakkaraIPL 2021 RR Playing XI vs PBKS: Why Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes will be a good choice as openers?Last season, the Rajasthan franchise tried five sets starting in Butler-Steve Smith, Yashasoi Jaiswal-Butler and Jaiswal-Smith. There was also a chance to pair Stokes-Buttler, but only for two games, only to settle for Stokes-Robin Uthappa in the end.The English couple's first match together was an opening against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The new role affected them and both left cheaply. While Stoke scored five runs, Butler was sent off for 16. However, there was a significant improvement in the second match against the Delhi Capitals. They sewed an inaugural partnership of 63 races. Stokes has contributed 41 times, while Butler has 22 times to his name. But its current form is most important to the RR when choosing a starting pair. The duo were in great shape in the recently concluded White Ball series against India. Second-best goalscorer for Stokes' national team, with 135 points in three matches. On the other hand, Buttler had an influence on the shorter version of the game. He was the best contestant on his team and second overall behind Indian team captain Virat Kohli. In three matches, the goalkeeper scored 172 points.England and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Ewen Morgan also believes that Joss Butler and Ben Stokes would be the right and most exciting choice for Rajasthan to start their roles. "The two obviously will open to Rajasthan this year in the IPL. So it would be great to see it."IPL 2021 RR Playing XI vs PBKS: What will be the batting line-up?The biggest problem Rajasthan faces is the weakness of its Indian heart, which has not been steadfast. Samson has rarely appeared in five consecutive matches in either version in recent years. Pacer Jaydev Unadkat, bought for Rs 11.5 crore in 2018, has failed delivery while Manan Vohra has only been awesome on rare occasions. It will be interesting to see what role Samson, Onadkat, and Vohra will play this season. With Steve Smith out of the picture now, RR is likely at # 3, while Yashaswi Jaiswal or Manan Vohra may be at # 4. Rajasthan will miss David Miller as he's still under quarantine and managing a team waiting for an update on this. In his absence, Ryan Parage will likely be the No. 5 hitters. Rahul Tiwatia will resume his duties in sixth place and he is ready to repeat his role as runner-up like last season.IPL 2021 RR Playing XI vs PBKS: Bowling unit a big headacheRajasthan is a team with an inexperienced bowling unit. With the exception of Chris Morris, which is bought for 16.25 crore Indian rupees, there's no dreadful pace on the side. Their speed bowling star Joffra Archer is not yet available due to injury. To add to his fears, Bangladeshi escort Mustafa Rahman will be absent from the opening match due to the quarantine. While Morris will be the leader of Rajasthan, Jaidev Onadkat and Kartik Tiyagi will likely be his alternates. In the spinning department, Shreyas Gopal will join Tewatia. Sangakkara says an inexperienced bowling alley can be beneficial to your campaign."Lack of experience can work for you sometimes and other times it means that the opposition didn't see it either. But fast bowling, especially in IPL, is not an easy task and we saw it yesterday (during DC vs CSK) too. Sometimes the wicket is really good at hitting or Most wickets are so. So I'm sure our junior bowlers will advance we had Kartik Tiyagi, who did really well last season on spots. And this year we have a new addition in Kuldeep Yadav and Chetan Sakariya. I think it's about keeping them focused on their work. Training them and implementing game plans in different scenarios.RR Playing XI vs PBKS in IPL 2021 (Likely):1) Jos Buttler, 2) Ben Stokes, 3) Sanju Samson, 4) Riyan Parag, 5) Shivam Dubey 6) Rahul Tewatia, 7) Chris Morris, 8) Andrew Tye  9) Shreyas Gopal, 10) Kartik Tyagi, 11) Jaydev UnadkatIPL 2021 – Rajasthan Royals Full Squad: Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, Shreyas Gopal, Rahul Tewatia, Mahipal Lomror, Kartik Tyagi, Andrew Tye, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Markande, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Anuj Rawat, David Miller, Manan Vohra, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, KC Cariappa, Liam Livingstone, Kuldip Yadav, Akash SinghAlso Read: IPL 2021: BCCI requests Aviation ministry for separate IPL Check-in counters, daily testing to fight Covid-19

KKR vs MI in IPL 2021: Can Eoin Morgans Kolkata solve the Mumbai Indians puzzle at Chepauk?

After the clinical final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Eoin Morgan's Kolkata Knight Riders will look to solve the Mumbai mystery in their second IPL match at MA Chidambaram on Tuesday. The KKR was an entirely different unit, in the way they defeated David Warner's SRH by ten runs in their first match on Sunday.Be it the aggression demonstrated by the top-ranked or the explosive ending of Dinesh Karthik, KKR demonstrated a fearless approach under the leadership of patron Eoin Morgan.Morgan's intention was evident at the moment of the launch when he decided to abandon his most trusted Lieutenant, Sunil Naraine. However, they now had routine duties. Mumbai remains the best team on paper. The five-time winning champions are packed with powerful hitters like Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard. Add a bowling lethal unit in IM for Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Bolt.KKR vs MI in IPL 2021: Who has the edge?If individual records and team strength are taken into account, the match between KKR and MI could seem tough. But this was not the case. In 28 matches so far in IPL, MI has always dominated KKR, winning 21 matches against KKR's 6 and the other without providing any results.Matches Played28MI Won21KKR Won6No Result1KKR vs MI in IPL 2021: How will Kolkata try to get the better of Mumbai?Nitesh Rana and Chubbman's opening generation mix started from left and right with the attack from the first ball, clearly indicating that the new approach has written the slogan of Morgan's success everywhere. With a solid median ranking in Andre Russell, Karthik and Morgan, 2020 has been a promising season for KKR, but aimless planning hasn't helped their cause. This time, KKR cemented their middle ranking by adding Bangladeshi superstar Shakeeb Al Hassan, while Morgan, in his full season as captain, is adding a new dimension to the team.Rana's skilled work on his wrist and super strength was shown on Sunday and made sure they stayed ahead despite Rashid Khan's double whammy in the form of generation and messengers. After 80 balls of 56 balls, it was Karthik Under Fire who hit an undefeated cameo of 22 nine-ball passes to propel KKR to a total of 187 from 6 wins.KKR will be looking to shoot the defending champions five times on Tuesday. They have only won once in their last 12 matches against IM, and they have an overall record in head-to-head matches 6-21.Ultimately, however, the whole affair will end in a battle of wits between Morgan and Rohit Sharma, who under MI won a record fifth Premier League title in the Premier League last season in the United Arab Emirates.MI will be a real challenge for KKR as the defending champions will be desperate to secure their first win of the season after losing a Wicket to Royal Challengers Bangalore in an IPL opener on Friday.KRR found it easy against SRH players, who lack firepower, but on Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, MI attacking would be an entirely different proposition.Jill's struggle to reach the T20 rate has been a concern for KKR and it will be interesting to see the young novice face the best in the business. Also Read: Virat Kohli: Superb looking tattoos and their meaning

The Indian Premier League (IPL) Mumbai match will be played as scheduled despite the Maharashtra state government imposing a similar lockdown on statewide restrictions starting today. But the BCCI chief stated that the restrictions will not affect IPL matches in Mumbai and matches will continue as per schedule in Mumbai. The head of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sourav Ganguly, said, "No, it is on time." Mumbai is set to host 10 matches in the tournament and has so far successfully held 2 matches in a strict biosecurity environment. With eight matches remaining in the city, they will meet the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals on Thursday, followed by the Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings the following day.IPL 2021: BCCI official says Mumbai Lockdown is a “blessing in disguise” for smooth IPL operationThe BCCI  official believes that the restrictions imposed by the Maharashtra state government could be a "blessing in disguise" for the proper operation of the IPL. According to a BCCI official, this would mean complete restriction of unwanted people, limiting the possibility of Covid 19 transmission in and around Mumbai Wankhede Stadium, one of the main venues of the IPL 2021 season. We are watching developments closely. We fully adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines. There is no possibility to change the five-place matches, including Mumbai. In fact, the two games played so far in Wankhade have been running smoothly without relapses. A senior BCCI official told on the condition of anonymity that the night curfews and weekend curfews appear to be a blessing in disguise as far as the IPL process is concerned given the massive momentum in Covid 19 cases in Maharashtra and Mumbai. The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry official said that the situation is completely under control and that the isolated cases that have appeared have not been able to break the bubble. "Some players were injured while traveling. They have been quarantined and isolated. The gardeners and others have come from different parts of town and have been replaced. Everything is under control. You don't have to worry when it comes to players, coaches, and support staff. Some franchisees who have mostly chosen to keep their cards close to their chests. When he asked not to be named as one of the main officials of the franchisor, he said: “We understand the seriousness of the situation and trust the decision and wisdom of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in this regard. We were told that the matches will continue as scheduled in the designated venues. There was no written communication, but it was done. We are verbally told not only our franchisor but the eight franchisees that they are not looking elsewhere for alternative locations yet. Yes, I agree with BCCI's view that the shutdown could be a blessing in disguise when it comes to IPL matches in Mumbai. "Earlier, IPL Chairman Brijesh Patil explained that IPL will remain in Mumbai despite the increasing cases in Maharashtra city and state. IPL matches will be held in Mumbai. Once you are in a bubble nothing happens. Even last season in the UAE, there were some of these events in the lead up to the event, but once the tournament started, everything was fine, ”he said recently, adding:“ We have the necessary permission and guarantees. The state government to hold matches there. Mumbai will only host ten matches between 10-25 April and there will be nothing to worry about inside the vital bubble. We are in a well-secured position and the players and support staff will be safe. "IPL President Brijesh Patel and IPL GC Member Aaron Dumal also supported the opinion of BCCI President, saying that the issue of relocation at this point had not arisen. Also Read: KL RAHUL : SUPERB LOOKING TATTOOS AND THEIR MEANING

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is under heavy criticism as matches continue amid the COVID-19 crisis across the country. But the Indian Council (BCCI) is, as usual, insisting on the continuation of the IPL 2021 despite the humanitarian crisis in the country due to Covid-19. R. Ashwin, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa, and Kane Richardson have pulled out of the IPL 2021 due to Covid-19, but BCCI is adamant to continue. The BCCI stated that it will continue into IPL 2021 as scheduled even though the entire country is mired in Covid-19."The IPL provides a much-needed distraction from the agony and grief that surrounds us," Reuters quoted an Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry official, who requested anonymity. One of the major southern newspapers, The New Indian Express, reported Sunday that it has decided to suspend IPL coverage, as hundreds of fans have attacked the league on social media. The Chennai-based New Indian Express said its decision to suspend coverage was "a small gesture to keep the nation's attention focused on matters of life and death."The number of Covid-19 cases in India rose by 349,691 on Sunday, a new world record, and hospitals in Delhi and across the country are turning away patients after they run out of medical and family oxygen.2021 IPL is under fire as games continue amid the Covid crisis, but BCCI says 'we will continue with 2021 IPL'The newspaper's decision came after an IPL board member told Reuters that the league has a "strong biological bubble" and is being played without fans, making it safe to continue."The IPL provides a much-needed distraction from the agony and grief that surrounds us," said the official, who requested anonymity."Yes, cases have increased in places like Delhi, but we have two hanging places in Hyderabad and Indore and we will use them if needed," said an IPL GC member. Not only the fans, but Australian Adam Gilchrist, who led the Deccan Chargers whose role is now ending to his first IPL win in 2009, has also raised questions about the continuation of the league amid the Covid-19 crisis in India.“Best wishes to everyone in India. Terrifying Covid numbers. #IPL continues. inappropriate? Or a great distraction every night? Whatever your thoughts, prayers are with you, ”the former test player tweeted.Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced, on Sunday, that the ongoing lockdown of the Coronavirus in the national capital will be extended for a week. The decision came due to the high rate of positivity despite a slight decrease in the daily numbers of new cases.Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc. We are extending the lockdown for another week, 'Kejriwal said during a televised advertisement on Sunday. So what happens to the IPL 2021 matches scheduled to be played in Delhi from April 28? Eight matches of the current T20 League will be played at Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi."The game is starting. The lockdown will help us do our job smoothly," DDCA Deputy Secretary Rajan Manchanda said last week.Manchanda also revealed that all logistical work "did not tell us the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry to stop our work, so we continue and will be fully prepared to do IPL in the next couple of days."So far, as part of the first leg of IPL 2021, the matches have been held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the second leg, the two matches will be played in Delhi and Ahmedabad.Ahmedabad Narendra Modi will host 12 matches this season, including the playoffs and the final. In Delhi, Chennai Super Kings camp, Sun Raisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals will hold their camp between April 28th and May 8th.Delhi full match scheduleApril 28 - CSK vs SRH (7:30 pm IST)April 29 - MI vs RR (3:30 PM IST)May 1 - MI vs CSK (7:30 PM IST)May 2 - RR vs SRH (3:30 PM IST)May 4 - SRH vs MI (7:30 PM IST)May 5 - RR vs CSK (7:30 PM IST)May 7 - SRH vs CSK (7:30 PM IST)May 8 - RR vs MI (7:30 PM IST)

IPL 2021, PBKS vs RR: Battle for survival between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals

  • Sep 21, 2021

On paper, Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals have more than a few things in common in the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both affected by the withdrawal of players and locked at six points each, the two teams will look to revive their falling campaign during their clash at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday.Wicketkeeper captains KL Rahul and Sanju Samson comfortably sit among the top six scorers of the tournament, but their individual efforts have left no impact on their team's performances so far. With the odds stacked against them in their 14th attempt to lift the elusive trophy, Punjab Kings will hope for their coach Anil Kumble and the leadership group to get their campaign back on track. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 seasonDuring his playing career, Kumble had back India from the clutches of defeat on numerous occasions. With the former India captain name doing the rounds for a second stint as head coach of the national team once Ravi Shastri completes his tenure after the T20 World Cup, the legendary leg-spinner will look to prove his mettle as a franchise coach. Before his fallout with Virat Kohli, Kumble had coached India to the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final. However, his brief tenure as coach of the Punjab Kings has yet to produce the desired results. The Mohali-based franchise finished sixth in 2020 and is currently at the same spot midway into the IPL 2021 season.Tuesday's competition will be more about what kinds of starts can be made by the top order players on both sides. As for the Kings, Rahul and Mayank are expected to open with Chris Gale providing just the right momentum to their innings at No.3.Prabhsimran Singh is another exciting prospect at the top of the order in case he gets into the XI. The middle order will be manned by Mandeep Singh, M Shahrukh Khan and a toss-up between new recruit Aiden Markram and West Indian Nicholas Pooran, eager to get over a nightmarish first phase, where he got four ducks.Leg-spin remains Punjab's forte and the addition of experienced campaigner Adil Rashid, alongside the India pair of Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin, could come in handy in UAE conditions. The withdrawals of Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson means Mohammed Shami is set to be partnered by either Chris Jordan or Nathan Ellis. Left-armer Arshdeep Singh's improved death bowling will also strengthen his case.Similarly for the Rajasthan, a lot will depend on the start provided by power-hitters Liam Livingston and Evin Lewis. Coming to the IPL after some sensational performances in "The Hundred" for Birmingham Phoenix, Livingston will be excited to stretch his run, while at the same time his skills will be tested against a high-quality leg-spin.Weakened by the withdrawal of Ben Stokes, Joss Butler and Jofra Archer, Rajasthan hope that their Indian Players like Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Jaydev Unadkat and Chetan Sakariya to turn the tide. Also Read- Pakistan vs New Zealand: Entire tour called off due to security concerns minutes before 1st ODI

Delhi Capitals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 33 of the IPL 2021 on Wednesday. They currently hold the second spot in the standings with 12 points. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a lean patch in the first half of the IPL. IPL 2021, DC vs SRH Preview: Delhi Capitals Eye Top Spot, SunRisers Hyderabad Fight For Survival

Delhi Capitals have been the team to beat in IPL 2021, with Rishabh Pant doing a great job leading the franchise in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. But that was all before Covid outbreak in the IPL bio-bubble that led to the tournament being postponed. Iyer is back, but Pant will continue to lead the team, at least until the end of the current season. Delhi hopes to pick up where it left off in India, and their first test comes in the form of bottom-placed SunRisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. While DC was the form team in the first leg in India, SRH endured a nightmare. The team had just one win under their belt from seven games.SRH's dreadful showing cost David Warner his captaincy and he was replaced by Kane Williamson before the tournament was halted. The Covid-enforced break, however, came at the right time for SRH. The team has now had time to regroup and hopes that a change of scenery will lead to a change of fortunes. Also Read- DC vs SRH Dream11 Prediction, Fantasy Cricket Tips, Playing XI UpdatesBefore the UAE resumed, SRH was hit hard when England star Jonny Bairstow withdrew from the tournament.Jonny Bairstow is the top-scorer for SRH this season with 248 runs in seven matches, boasting a strike-rate of 141.71. SRH have added West Indies batsman Sherfane Rutherford to their squad following Bairstow's withdrawal.Rashid Khan will once again hold the key for SRH when it comes to bowling but others will need to provide him support. Bhuvneshwar Kumar seems to be getting back to his best and that will be good news for the Hyderabad franchise.Delhi are currently level on 12 points with league leaders Chennai Super Kings but have an inferior run-rate to MS Dhoni's team. A win against SRH will put Delhi on top at least till CSK play next. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 season

The five-time champion Mumbai Indians did not start well in the second leg of IPL 2021, as they lost to Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. They did a good job of pick up the wicket early on, but later in death overs, they conceded plenty of runs, which brought about their downfall. Rohit Sharma, who missed the last match due to a niggle, is likely to be back for this match. On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders were stunning against RCB in their previous match, as they bowled Virat Kohli’s team out for just 92 runs. The Knights then chased the target with 10 overs still left in the game. This was one of the biggest victories in IPL in terms of balls remaining. Youngsters are doing great work for KKR at the moment.Match Details:Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Match 34Venue:Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu DhabiDate & Time: September 23rd at 7:30 PM IST, and at 6:00 PM local timeLive Streaming:Star Sports Network and Disney+HotstarPitch Report:The wicket is conducive for the bowlers, and we witnessed some terrific bowling performances from KKR bowlers against RCB on Monday. That being said, he is a match-winner who has got the necessary backing of the Mumbai team management to play freely. He has scored 176 runs so far in this IPL at an average of 22.Shubman Gill played a sensible knock in the last match against RCB. The 22-year-old talented batter from Punjab scored 48 runs from 34 deliveries in the run chase. Overall, in this year’s IPL, he has amassed 180 runs in 8 matches at an average of 22.5.Top Picks – All-RoundersKrunal Pandya can be a good budget pick. He might be struggling to make a big impression in this IPL. However, he is a resilient all-rounder and will be hopeful of delivering well in this match.Andre Russell was brutal with the ball against RCB. His unplayable yorker to dismiss AB de Villiers was one of the main highlights of the match. He ended with the figures of 3/9.Top Picks – BowlersTrent Boult is a wicket-taking bowler who swings the ball both ways and is very effective in the powerplay. The New Zealand left-arm quick has scalped 10 wickets in this year’s IPL, with the best figures of 3/28.Varun Chakravarthy likes to attack the stumps every time he runs in, and he did the same against RCB. Bangalore batters struggled to read his variations and fell to his trap. He was the player of the match for his figures of 3/13.Top Picks – WicketkeepersQuinton de Kock was cruising well in the match against Chennai Super Kings, but was dismissed when he was batting on 17 runs. He has mustered 172 runs in 7 matches so far in this year’s IPL, with the highest score of 70*.Suggested Playing XI No.1 for MI vs KKR Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell (vc), Venkatesh Iyer, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Varun ChakravarthySuggested Playing XI No.2 for MI vs KKR Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:Quinton de Kock (c), Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill (vc), Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Lockie Ferguson, Varun ChakravarthyMI vs KKR Risky Captaincy Choices:Playing in his debut IPL game, Venkatesh Iyer played some breath-taking shots against RCB and fearlessly attacked the top-quality bowlers. He remained not out on 41* runs from 27 deliveries. He is a risky captaincy pick for your fantasy teams. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to his role of a number three, but Nitish Rana played quite a few extraordinary knocks in the first phase of IPL 2021, where he batted as an opener. In fact, he scored a half-century against Mumbai Indians.Player you should avoid:Dinesh Karthik bats way down the order for KKR, which is why it’s hard to pick him in the final eleven. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 season

IPL 2021, MI vs KKR: It's Rohit Sharma vs Varun Chakravarthy as Mumbai Indians eye win

Bolstered by the return of Captain Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians (MI), still agonizing from their defeat against the Chennai Super Kings will look to return against the Varun Chakravarthy (KKR) inspired Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sheikh Zayed Abu Dhabi Stadium on Thursday night. The Tamil Nadu tweaker won handsome praise from India and RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who said he’s going to be “a key factor when he plays for India” after taking 3/13 in four overs. The 30-year-old’s magical spell included as many as 15 dot balls and Glenn Maxwell was one of his three scalps. When the teams met in Chennai during the first stage of the IPL, Rohit hit 43 off 32 balls and Chakravarthy took 1-27 in four overs, as MI won by 10 runs. Their 10-wicket victory over RCB allowed KKR to climb a little further to sixth spot on the table with six points from eight games. In order to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to keep winning from here. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 seasonMissing the services of their talismanic captain and India allrounder Hardik Pandya, MI went down by 20 runs to CSK on Sunday night. Both the players were rested as a precautionary measure, allowing them to recover from their niggles. While there’s still doubt over Pandya’s availability, head coach Mahela Jayawardene had said that Rohit should be returning for the KKR match. In a pre-match presser on Wednesday, MI’s left-arm pacer Trent Boult said: “They (Rohit and Hardik) are both recovering very well. In terms of their selection for the next game, I’m not too sure what’s going on there. But day by day, they are improving. It was probably more of precaution that they had that extra bit of rest the other night against Chennai. But they are obviously two vital players in the XI for Mumbai. And we’re desperate to get them back. So, fingers crossed that they’ll be pretty good to go over the next couple of games.”Lying at the fourth spot with eight games in eight matches, MI desperately need their key players for the business end of the tournament.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Mumbai Indians (@mumbaiindians)He (Rohit) was sorely missed. He is right up there in terms of experience and runs achieved in this format. So, it was a big hole but it was a good decision to make sure (that) he’s 100% with the amount of cricket coming up. If he comes to the eleven, it will be brilliant, but we want to make sure he is 100% fit,” said Boult.Whether Pandya plays on Thursday or not, he will also be seen by the Indian selectors, who chose him ahead of players like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar for the T20 World Cup, which follows directly from the IPL in the United Arab Emirates.“If Hardik is fully fit, he can contribute with both bat and ball. He’s a very good player for any side. He’s working hard to get himself fit and we’re desperate to have him back,” said Boult. They would blame themselves for allowing CSK to get out of jail in the last game. Having reduced them to 24 for four in six overs, MI’s stand-in captain Kieron Pollard perhaps allowed their opponents to get off the hook when he chose to take off pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Boult and bring on his spinners. Also Read- Former Mr India contest winner Manoj Patil attempts suicide, blames actor Sahil Khan for harrassment

Sunrisers Hyderabad will face the Rajasthan Royals in the 40th match of the IPL 2021 on Monday, September 27 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Sunrisers, led by Kane Williamson, are in dire straits as they are languishing right at the bottom of the table. In their previous game, they lost to Punjab Kings by five runs after failing to chase 126 runs. Jason Holder shot five sixes to keep the Orange Army in the game, but his efforts went in vain. Going into the next game, it won’t be a surprise if they make quite a few changes in their playing eleven. The Royals, on the other hand, are placed at seventh in the IPL table. The 33-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals would have dented their confidence to some extent. But their skipper, Sanju Samson, looked in great touch. Royal Challengers Bangalore finally returned to their usual pace with a huge victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians by 54 runs on Sunday. Glenn Maxwell's overall show gave them their sixth win in this IPL. They beat the Rajasthan Royals in their last 3 meetings, which can boost their confidence. Considering this he is a risky captaincy pick for your fantasy teams. Chris Morris is yet to pick a wicket in the second leg of the IPL, but he is a real match-winner in this format and had a great first phase, especially with the ball. You can take a risk and pick him as your fantasy team skipper.Player you should avoid:Kyle Jamieson is struggling to find his rhythm, he went wicketless in the last 2 matches. Rajasthan Royals will go one-on-one against Mumbai Indians in the 51st match of the IPL 2021. It’s a must-win match for both teams and as they are aiming for the one remaining one playoff spot. Rajasthan Royals kept their qualifying hopes alive by defeating current table leaders Chennai Super Kings in their previous match by seven wickets with 15 balls remaining in the match. They made plenty of changes to their playing XI and they got the desired result. The tournament is still wide open and Rajasthan need to win their remaining 2 matches to make it to the playoffs.Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, did not perform well as a unit in the second phase of the IPL. Batters failed miserably and as a result managed to win only 1 of the last 5 matches. They are currently placed at the 7th spot in the standings with 10 points. They have been in this situation many times and know how to win matches under pressure.Match Details:Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians, Match 51Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, SharjahDate & Time: October 5th at 7:30 PM IST, and at 6:00 PM local timeLive Streaming: Star Sports Network and Disney+HotstarPitch Report:It’s all depends on what kind of sur face will be provided on the match day. He took on the bowlers and smashed unbeaten 64 runs from 42 deliveries.Krunal Pandya has been a tad off-colour in this IPL. 134 runs with the bat and 5 wickets with the ball doesn’t justify his potential. Harshal Patel equals Bravo's all-time record of 32 wickets in an IPL season

Royal Challengers Bangalore champion fast bowler Harshal Patel came close to breaking a long-standing Indian Premier League (IPL) but fell 1 wicket short as his team crashed out of the 2021 season after a 4-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator on Monday. Harshal picked up 2 for 19 from his 4 overs to finish his IPL 2021 campaign with 32 wickets and equal Dwayne Bravo's record for the most scalps in a single season. The Chennai Super Kings all-rounder had achieved the amazing feat in the 2013 season. The right-arm pacer had the chance to better Bravo's record in his final over when Sunil Narine top-edged his slower delivery towards mid-on but Devdutt Padikkal dropped the catch. Harshal is the only player to pick a hat-trick this season, against the Mumbai Indians in Dubai last month. He is also one of three to pick a five-wicket haul (5 for 27) this season alongside Punjab Kings' Arshdeep Singh (5 for 32) and KKR's Andre Russell (5 for 15) Harshal's performance meanwhile, went in vain as KKR chase down 139 against RCB with 4 wickets in hand and 2 balls to spare to set up Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals on October 13.Most wickets in an IPL season: Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – 32 wickets in IPL 2021 Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings) – 32 wickets in IPL 2013 Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals) – 30 wickets in IPL 2020 Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) – 28 wickets in IPL 2011 James Faulkner (Rajasthan Royals) – 28 wickets in IPL 2013The match turned out to be the final match for Virat Kohli as captain of the RCB. Kohli, who took over as RCB's full-time captain in 2013 from Daniel Vettori, had said midway during the season that he would give up captaincy after completing of IPL 2021.It was a disappointing end to one of the most talked about captaincy tenures in the IPL as Kohli finished without a trophy despite leading the franchise for 8 seasons.“I have given my best. I don’t know how the response has been, but I have given 120% to this franchise every time, which is something I will now do as a player. It is a great time to regroup and restructure for the next three years with people who will take this ahead,” the outgoing skipper said."I have tried my best to create a culture where youngsters could come in & play with freedom & belief.I have given 120% to RCB every time, which is something I will now do as a player.”You have been an inspiration, role model and the torchbearer of RCB. #ThankYouCaptainKohli pic.twitter.com/tlC0uMH2iW— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 11, 2021“I don’t see myself playing anywhere else. Loyalty matters more to me than worldly pleasures. I would be in the RCB till the last day I play in the IPL.”We fought till the end and never gave up but it just wasn’t our night. Thank you, 12th Man Army for all your support this season. We will be back next year with the same Challenger Spirit. #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #RCBvKKR pic.twitter.com/55qcDByZnu— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 11, 2021Also Read- T20 World Cup 2021 Schedule, All Teams, Host, Time Table, Venue

Manchester United owners show 'interest' in IPL franchise

The Indian Premier League (IPL) could soon see some Manchester United flavour as the Red Devil owners' Glazer family are reportedly interested in buying one of the two new teams IPL teams that will take part in the tournament in 2022. According to a report by Times of India, the Glazer family has picked up the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the purchase of the two new teams for the upcoming season of the cash-rich league. The ITT does allow foreign companies to own a team however they will have to set up a company in India if their bid is successful. It is not known yet whether the US-based Glazers will make a formal bid to own a franchise. “A lot of people usually pick these tender documents to study and gather information that tends to be otherwise very useful from a larger industry perspective. For instance, buying a bid document will tell me more about what the BCCI is planning next, in terms of the league expansion, etc. For instance, if Disney has bought the tender document to buy the franchise, it doesn't mean Disney is interested in owning a franchise. It will study the document because it has to plan its own media rights landscape,” said those tracking developments to Times of India. In addition to Manchester United, the Glazers also own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the US-based National Football League (NFL). Amongst others to have picked up the document are Adani Group, Torrent Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, Hindustan Times Media, Jindal Steel (led by Naveen Jindal), entrepreneur Ronnie Screwvala and three private equity players. The deadline to purchase the ITT document was 20th October and teams are bid submissions are said to be made on the 25h October with an announcement expected on the following day. Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, Cuttack, Indore, and Dharamsala are in contention to home to the new teams. Also Read- UEFA Champions League: Messi scores twice to rescue PSG in 3-2 win over Leipzig
