Greatest Sporting Moments Of 2019 That Highlight The Fabulous Year It Was

As the year 2019 is just about to end, we have a list of the most memorable sports moments that happened in 2019 from all over the world. Whether it is cricket or football or tennis or any other sport, the world has witnessed the best of the sports challenges this year. 

It has been a fun year in the world of sports. Before the year ends, we would like to look back at the amazing sports challenges and victories being made by the top teams all over the world. Some of these sports moments of 2019 are as follows:

In the month of September 2019, the Indian badminton team had got the fame for itself when PV Sindhu won the World Championship after she defeated Nozomi Okuhara from Japan by 21-7, 21-7. It is the first time in the history of Indian Badminton. PV Sindhu has made the whole country proud.

Although PV Sindhu had come way too close 

To a finish at the top on about four occasions before this Championship but could not win the gold and brought India two silver and two bronze medals. But this time, she wasn't going to settle for the silver and bronze and had a clear aim of winning the gold. She did win the gold and changed the history of Indian badminton by winning over her opponent, Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. She became the first shuttler from India who won this feat. This was undoubtedly a moment to remember in the history of Indian sports.

England won the Cricket World Cup

The wait was finally over for the England Cricket Team as they won their first-ever 50-over World Cup this year. It was a moment of glory for the Cricket team of England. 

They had the most engaging closing moments with Trent Boult who had been taking a supposed match-winning catch before he stepped on the boundary rope, and on the other hand, Ben Stokes who deflected a throw from the boundary for six overthrows, which were supposed to be five.

This game became a part of the glorious history of England Cricket that will be remembered for the centuries to come. England has won the match by the virtue of the boundary count. The players of the New Zealand team had, with customary graciousness accepted their defeat from England.

The United States has won the Women's football World Cup
The United States had won the Women's football World Cup

The US Women's football team is one of the most dominant football teams in the world. The team had once again won the World Cup defeating the Netherlands by a score of 2-0. This is their fourth time winning the World Cup. The women's soccer team of the United States was better than the rest just like they promised to be.

The United States had won the World Cup consecutively for the second time when Rapinoe had converted the tie-breaking penalty kick in the second half of the game and Rose Lavelle had made the goal.

The US team had set their records with 26 goals and a winning streak of 12-game that dates back to the year 2015.

After a long wait of 12 years, the South African Rugby Team had won the World Cup for the third time. The Springboks' had won over the England Rugby Team with a score of 32-12 this time. Those of who predicted a win for the England team did not realize that South Africa has a proud history of winning two previous world cups.

At the small age of 22 years, Simone Biles is on the way to becoming the most dominant athlete in America. She is a very talented gymnast.

 At the world championships held in Stuttgart, Germany in the month of October 2019, Simone had won a total of five gold medals, one each in the team competition, the individual all-around, the vault, the balance beam as well as the floor exercise. She has broken the record of Vitalg Scherbo of USSR  with a total of 25 world championship medals.

The gymnast had an amazing time at the Rio Olympics of 2016. She had won four gold medals and one bronze medal, this included one team medal and the others were individual medals. All the medals she had won until now has been achieved in a short time of six years. The athlete had made her debut at the World Championships in the year 2013.

One of the famous teams, Liverpool have won the Champions Trophy by defeating the Tottenham Hotspur in the all-English final. Liverpool had won the Champions Trophy for the sixth time.

The team Liverpool had got the trophy which they couldn't win in the last season held in Ukraine. Right now, Liverpool is placed right behind Real Madrid and AC Milan as the serial winners of the UEFA Champions League. The early penalty of Mohamed Salah and the late strike by Divock Origi had given the team their win since the European title that they won in the year 2015.

Federer had missed the opportunity as he couldn't take the advantage of the two championship points that he had and at the end of the match, Djokovic ended up claiming his 5th Wimbledon title. This 5-hour long match is the longest one in the history of Wimbledon Men's singles.

The 25-year-old Kenyan had broken the previous record of Paula Radcliffe of London with a mark of 2 hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds, 16 years ago.

She broke Usain Bolt's record of earning the most IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) World Championship medals. Allyson Felix was a part of the team of the United States, that had won the 4x400 meter rally of the mixed-gender.

She became the most successful athlete of the IAAF World Championships just 10 months after giving birth to her baby girl, Camryn.
