India vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I: India eye maiden T20I series win in New Zealand

HAMILTON: India is expected to achieve its first victory in the T20 International Series in New Zealand, and only a special return for hosts with difficulties in the third match here on Wednesday will delay what appears to be inevitable.India won the T20 Internationals in Auckland by six and seven texts margins, to beat 2-0.The third successive win in Seddon Park would give them their first victory of the T20I series on New Zealand soil, an achievement they had not achieved twice before. India lost 0-2 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2008-09, and last year, India lost 1-2.Overall, this Indian team has seen an increase in luck and has not been defeated in the five T20 series since the ODI 2019 World Cup, including the current team against Black Caps. The only competition they didn't win was against South Africa when the three-game series ended in a 1-1 draw after a match was canceled. However, their current win from T20I will not make any major change to the ICC ranking. Currently, India is ranked fifth in the T20I ranking and needs to win the remaining three games, this series 5-0, to advance to fourth from the current fifth.New Zealand is currently in sixth place. Pakistan, Australia, England and South Africa are ranked high on the leaderboard. The biggest concern at the moment is the progress towards the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia later this year. However, in this context, the team's management is sure of the calm that several parts of the puzzle are starting to fit in, at the right time. This is mainly due to the performance of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in recent months, especially on the tour so far.As such, no changes are expected in the Indian T20 team. On Tuesday, there was an optional training session with Captain Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah, who were missing the action in the past games. The support team worked closely with these players who have not yet had a chance to play in the series. Ravi Shastri pays much attention to the Washington Sunder, while batting trainer Vikram Rathour was extremely busy with Rishabh Pant. Both are expected to rest again on Wednesday. There is a possibility of a change in the Indian composition. Kuldeep Yadav was out of the first two games in Auckland.Chahal provides more control and moves his spin away from most of the right-handed batsmen in the black caps team and, therefore, against the swing arch.Yadav is more adventurous on his journey, and the angle of his spin could have been easy fodder within the short borders of Eden Park.It remains to be seen if Kuldeep Yadav returns to competition in Seddon Park. In addition, there is little chance that Chahal, Yadav will play together, a move that India has avoided since the ODI World Cup.From New Zealand's point of view, this is the last chance for Colin de Grandhomme to make a good impression. The all-rounder on the team will be replaced in the last T20I by Tom Bruce.Grandhomme has played as a striker so far in the series, and he has 0 and 3 scores in the first two games.New Zealand is not very concerned about its bowling performance in this series, despite India's relative ease of chasing totals in the first two games. Its main concern is the rivalry with Indian bowling, especially Jasprit Bumrah, who has regained much of his pace.In both games, they could not take him, either at the beginning or during the death overs. For its part, India mixed well with things in the second T20, keeping Jasprit Bumrah until later in the power play.New Zealand performed poorly in Eden Park late, but it's record in Seddon Park is steady. They have won seven of the nine T20I games that they played here, and hope to prevent India from taking advantage of this game indisputably.Teams IND VS NZIndia: Virat Kohli (Capt.), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (wk), Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar.New Zealand: Kane Williamson (Capt.), Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Scott Kuggeleijn, Colin Munro, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Bruce, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Tim Seifert (wk), Hamish Bennett, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Blair Tickner.

T20 World Cup: Why India vs New Zealand could be a do or die clash for both team

In the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE, Pakistan have emerged as the strongest team in Group 2. Out of the six teams which are in this group, India, Pakistan and New Zealand (ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the ICC T20I team rankings) are the three higher ranked teams, while Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia (ranked 8th, 14th and 19th respectively in the IC T20I team rankings) are the three lower ranked teams. Pakistan, in their first two matches have beaten the other two highest ranked teams in their group, India by 10 wickets and New Zealand by 5 wickets. This gave them a solid NRR of +0.738. They sit at the top of the group with 4 points from two games and are top of the group. Their remaining three matches will be against the lower ranked teams - Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia, which they are expected to win. Therefore, Pakistan looks in good shape to set a perfect record of 5 wins in the Super 12 stage and advance to the semi-finals. On the other hand, both India and New Zealand have yet to open their accounts. Both teams have played one match so far and both have lost, both of course to Pakistan. And this makes their clash against each other, which incidentally will be the next match for both these teams, a potential do or die affair.Assuming Pakistan, India and New Zealand defeat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland, the team that wins the India-New Zealand match will be the team that joins Pakistan in the semi-finals. After Pakistan beat New Zealand on Tuesday, there are now only two scenarios possible as far as Group 2 is concerned - either India beat NZ or NZ beat India. In scenario 1 - If India beat NZ - then India will finish on 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). In this scenario, Pakistan and India will be the two teams going into the semi-finals from this group. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. In scenario 2 - If New Zealand beat India - then India will end on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish with 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). And if this happens, then the Kiwis will be joining Pakistan as the second team from Group 2 to qualify for the knockouts. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. Of course, T20 is the most fickle format of the sport and an upset is not going to be surprising. The team which loses on Sunday could still make the semis, provided the other team is upset by a lower ranked team or teams and they themselves win their remaining matches. The Men in Blue play the Black Caps on Sunday, October 31. While India vs Pakistan was a keenly followed clash for obvious reasons, India vs New Zealand will be perhaps the most crucial encounter for both these teams. India is ranked higher than NZ in the team rankings in T20I cricket, but history favours New Zealand in their more recent encounters vs India in ICC tournaments. Incredibly, the last time India beat the Kiwis in an ICC tournament was way back in the 203 ICC ODI World Cup. In fact, in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in ICC tournaments, NZ have beaten India four times In T20 clashes overall as well it's the Black Caps who hold the edge. In 16 T20I meetings between the two teams, NZ have won 8, while India won 6 of these matches. Two matches were tied. The Men in Blue team is looking forward to their second t20 worldcup title. They will have to be at their best to keep those hopes real and good. Also Read- India vs Pakistan: Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Amir engage in war of words on Twitter

Attacking Someone Over Religion Is Most Pathetic: Kohli backs Shami

Indian captain Virat Kohli on Saturday hit out at the social media abuse that was aimed at pacer Mohammed Shami after the team loss to Pakistan in the ICC Men’s t20 worldcup. The 31-year-old Shami was abused on social media after the 10-wicket defeat in Dubai, even though Kohli acknowledged that his side had been outplayed as a team. In a virtual press interaction ahead of India’s October 31 clash with New Zealand, Kohli brushed aside the “spineless” trolls, suggesting that those on the inside do not care about the “outside voice”. “There’s a reason we are playing on the field and not those spineless people,” Kohli said. “It’s unfortunate and sad to see people getting entertained. That is why we are doing what we are and those spineless people are doing what they are.” “Many people hide their identity in social media then try to troll the players and it is the lowest point in their life – all dramas outside due to the lack of self-confidence of them, we know how to back the players, there is no value from the outside voice.” Regrettably, Shami, the only Muslim player in the playing XI against Pakistan, was targeted over his religious beliefs, whereas incidents of communal harmony being disrupted in a few parts of the nation were reported the same day. “To me attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion but I personally have never even thought of discriminating someone over their religion,” Kohli said. “This is literally the lowest potential as a human being one can operate at.” “That [religious beliefs] is a very sacred and a personal thing to every human being and that should be left there. People take out their frustrations because they obviously have no understanding of what we do as individuals. They have no understanding of how much effort we put on the field. They have no understanding of the fact that someone like Mohammed Shami has won India a lot of matches in last few years and he’s been our primary bowler with Jasprit Bumrah when it comes to making an impact. “We are doing what we are doing on the field and none of these people [trolls] are even in the vicinity to even imagine doing something like that. They do not have the courage or the spine to do that. That is how I see things. “As a group, we understand how we need to stick together and how we need to back individuals and how need to focus on our strengths and whether people on the outside portray the fact that India cannot afford to lose a game of cricket is none of our business because we play sport and we understand how sport goes. So, how people think on the outside adds no value whatsoever. We never focussed on it and we will never focus on it going forward either.” “If people can overlook that and his passion for the country, honestly I don’t even want to waste one minute of my life to give any attention to the people, neither does Shami and neither does anyone else in the team. We stand by him fully. We are backing him 200% and all those who attacked him can come with more force if they want to. “Our brotherhood, our friendship within the team and nothing can be shaken. I can guarantee you as a captain of the team that we have built a culture where these things will not even be infiltered into this environment at all and that is a absolute guarantee from my side. A slew of former indian cricketer stood in solidarity with Shami. “The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa,” tweeted former India opener Sehwag. Sachin Tendulkar, too, lauded Shami for his commitment, while he reckoned that like any other player, it was merely an off day for the pacer. “When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have. I stand behind Shami & Team India.”Also Read- I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup: Virender Sehwag

T20 World Cup: How can India still hope to qualify for the semi final

It's not the first-time cricket fans in the country have had to sit with calculators and figure out permutations and combinations in a cricket season. But for the first time in recent memory, fans of the Indian cricket team will be eagerly awaiting as Virat Kohli's men are on the brink of a shocking early exit in T20 World Cup 2021. Billed as one of the pre-tournament favourites, India have shocked quite a few with their listless performances so far at the T20 World Cup. India's body language, their mental strength has all come into question after two humbling defeats. India's campaign at the t20 worldCup got off to a terrible start as they lost to arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 points. It was Pakistan's first win over India in a World Cup match and they got it in style by chasing down a 152-run target without losing a wicket and with 13 balls to spare. A week-long break did India no good, it seems as they were hammered by 8 wickets by New Zealand, who restricted a listless indian cricketer batting line-up to just 110 in 20 overs during which they went without a boundary for 70 balls. New Zealand got past the finish line in 14.3 overs.  The two big defeats meant India's Net Run Rate has taken a massive beating. Only 2 teams will qualify from each of the two Super 12 groups and India's chances are looking bleak at the moment. What does the T20 World Cup 2021 points table look like?Did you see this coming? #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/fxK4E0eHW7— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) October 31, 2021Pakistan is on top of the 6-team table with 3 wins in as many matches. The 2009 champions are all but through to the semi-final, as their last two matches are against associates, Scotland and Namibia. Pakistan made a statement by beating India, New Zealand and Afghanistan in their first 3 matches. It is safe to say that 3 teams are still in the race for the second spot in Group 2 of the Super 12 - Afghanistan, New Zealand and India and pretty much in that order.T20 World Cup: How can India still hope to qualify for the semi-final? India's upcoming matchesVs Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on November 3 Vs Scotland in Dubai on November 5 Vs Namibia in Dubai on November 8New Zealand's upcoming matchesVs Scotland in Dubai on November 3 Vs Namibia in Sharjah on November 5 Vs Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on November 7 Afghanistan's upcoming matchesVs India on November 3 in Abu Dhabi Vs New Zealand on November 7 in Dubai India's only chance of reaching the semi-finals is hope for a 3-way (or 4-way tie) for the semi-final spots at 6 points. If Pakistan wins one of the next two matches, it will guarantee them a place in the semi-finals. While India can't reach 8 points from hereon, Afghanistan and New Zealand can get to 8 points. Provided the more fancied teams avoid shocks in Group 2 from here on, the November 7 match between Afghanistan and New Zealand will assume a lot of importance. What do India need to reach the semi-finals?It's simple. Win all their next 3 matches and win them by big margins to boost their Net Run Rate which is reeling at -1.609. Scenario 1 India will hope they can beat Afghanistan by a big margin on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi and Mohammad Nabi's men go on to beat New Zealand in their final Super 12 match. However, if India are tied on points with Afghanistan, it's less likely that they will be able to overtake Nabi's side on Net Run Rate. Scenario 2 India should beat Afghanistan by a big margin and hope New Zealand beat Afghanistan in their final Super 12 match -- meaning, Afghanistan don't get to 6 points from here. However, New Zealand should lose to one of Namibia or Scotland as it gives Virat Kohli's men an opportunity to overtake the Black Caps' NRR.Can Scotland and Namibia help India?Well, there are more ways that India can qualify for the semi-finals. There are two unexpected as India needs Scotland and Namibia to pull off a couple of big upsets. For example, if Pakistan loses its next two games to Scotland and Namibia and India wins its next three games by a big margin, there is a chance that India going through and their arch-rivals getting knocked out in the Super 12 stages. Well, doesn't it look unlikely? India can benefit from Scotland and Namibia's victory over New Zealand, with India winning the remaining matches by a wide margin. All said and done, India have failed to live up to their reputation so far at T20 World Cup 2021. As former cricketer Vinod Kambli wrote on social media, this has been one of India's worst-ever World Cup performances, if not the worst-ever, given the talent and potential the side has been able to develop over the years. Also Read- CSK reward Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra with Rs 1 crore

India needed less than an hour of play on Monday morning to beat New Zealand's last 5 wickets and finish Test 2. Jayant Yadav took 4 wickets and R Ashwin took the final as India beat New Zealand by 372 throws, their biggest run-in win in a game Experimental cricket.New Zealand, who were out by 62 points, scored 167 points in the second half as they lost their last 5 wickets for just 27 throws on the morning of the fourth day. He himself is in a difficult field in Mumbai, where the spinners ruled.Although Ijaz Patel scored 14 wickets, New Zealand recognized the series as the hitters failed to take action against a high-quality Indian attack. Ijaz became the third bowler in Test cricket history after Jim Lacker and Anil Kumble to take all 10 wickets in one round, but became the first elite bowler to lose.India continues its unbeaten streak at homeIt was the 14th consecutive victory of the Indian Test series at home, a streak that runs to the record. In addition, India has won each of the 11 Test series contested for it under Virat Kohli at home.India once again demonstrated its strength on the bench by clinching a winning streak over the World Test champions despite losing some of its regulars, including Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Jaspreet Pomrah and Muhammad Al Shami.India have not lost a streak at home to New Zealand in 14 matches over the years. This is India's fourth consecutive win in a Test series over the Black Cabs at home, with India's last win in a Test match in 1988.Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli started their partnership well, as India beat the World Test champions in a superb manner. In particular, Dravid began his stint as head coach, overseeing India's 3-0 sweep of New Zealand in the T20I series last month.Mission accomplished in 45 minutesNew Zealand started Monday's match with a score of 140 out of 5. Rashin Ravindra and Henry Nichols started a solid match until Jayant Yadav took the lead earlier in the day.Gayan then went on a mini tour where he had Kyle Jamison (0) and Tim Southey (0) in the same spot before returning to get Will Somerville.R Ashwin capped matters by taking a wicket from Nichols, who was the only player on the New Zealand team to hit 100 balls or more in the Mumbai Test.Ashwin was 66th in the India and New Zealand Test when he passed Richard Hadley's tally for most terrain in that competition. Ashwin also became the second Indian spinner after Anil Kumble to take home 300 wickets.Mayank raise your hand because big guns fail There was a lot of pressure on Mayank Agarwal as he was expected to be eliminated to replace Virat Kohli at XI as the captain missed the Kanpur test. However, Ajinkia Rahani's injury caused Mayank to hold onto his spot.He provided nearly half of India's first entry into the Mumbai field, which provided a lot of support to the spinners. This was his first century of testing in two years when the opener happily hit him out of the air after crossing the 3-digit mark on the second day of the second test.Mayank has dominated the New Zealand races, with the ability to leave the track and hit the big boys with ease. He joins the elite list of Indian hitters who scored over fifty starting points in a Test at Wankidi Stadium in Mumbai. He has imitated players like Chetan Chauhan (52, 84 in 1978), Sunil Gavaskar (205, 73 in 1978) and Chris Srikanth (71 in 1987, 65) after over fifty goals in the prestigious place.India will now face South Africa in the third round of the series. The much-anticipated tour has been postponed and will now begin on December 26.for more latest update to visit now - PITCHHIGH
