England's Ole Robinson knocked out India's captain Virat Kohli at the end of the first day of second test, calling the precious wicket the greatest of his fledgling career.Fresh from his five-wicket haul in first opening test at Trent Bridge, Robinson cleared Kohli (42) who edged it to Joe Root on the first slip after taking the second fresh ball.Virat is probably mybiggest wicket so far, so I was happy with that. It was a great moment. The plan was always for him to bowl the fourth-fifth stump line, back of the length. Fortunately, the plan worked, said Robinson. After the stumps on Thursday.KL Rahul remained undefeated at 127wielding his bat from the first ball to the end, while his great opening partner Rohit Sharma played fluently before going out for 83, his best score in overseas test to lead India 276-3 on day one after Root opted to bowl. Robinson praised the efforts of opposing hitters for their efforts, but also felt his team was unlucky. "There were probably 10-15 hits and misses that he could count and another day we could have had it two or three earlier." "We definitely looked at the circumstances and thought we could get some of them early here. I think on another day it (wickets) might have happened. "I felt we did a good performance," he said. "We worked hard against their batters and to be fair they played very well. Dense clouds in the morning delayed the start of the game, as Root was quick to choose a bowling game to take advantage of the conditions, which did not happen. When asked if the field was letting them down, he said: "We expected the field to be a little bit faster, a little bit smoother.’’ Obviously, it's a little bit slow. "The swing was a bit inconsistent; I don't know if it was the ball or the overhead. We decided to swing a bit, which we felt was a good plan, but the wicket was a bit slow on that and not as responsive as we think it might be. " Stuart Broad's absence (a torn calf) meant that Robinson shared the new ball with paceman James Anderson and said he was ready to take on the challenge. "It has been a privilege to share the new ball with Jimmy’’. I have shown in the last two games that I am ready to work when it arrives," he signed the exit. Also Read: Neeraj Chopra rises to second spot in world rankings after Olympic gold
Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been arrested and released on interim bail by Haryana police for using casteist slur against spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Hansi SP Nitika Gahlout informed here today that Yuvraj has joined the investigation as directed by the court with the investigation officer today. Police have registered the FIR under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of SC/ST Act. The FIR comes 8 months after an advocate from Hisar filed a police complaint against the cricketer for his 'casteist comments'. Yuvraj allegedly made the 'casteist remark' during a live Instagram session with India's opener Rohit Sharma in June 2020. The former World Cup winner all-rounder had issued an apology, saying he never believed in disparity. Yuvraj had taken to Twitter and apologised for "unintentionally hurting sentiments" of a particular society of people. "This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception," Yuvraj Singh said in his post. "I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same." Ain’t nothing like this feeling! “Thank you for your love and wishes, mean a lot to me ! Keep supporting IND it’s our team and a true fan will show his or her support in tough times,” Yuvraj wrote. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Yuvraj Singh (@yuvisofficial)It is unclear whether he will be returning to be in contention for a place in the Indian team or in T20 leagues. The 2011 World Cup Player of the Tournament, the swashbuckling all-rounder had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in June 2019. India Look To Keep Winning Combination In RanchiIndia concludes its recent disappointment at the 2021 T20 World Cup with a five-wicket victory over New Zealand in the T20I series at Jaipur. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, led Rahul Dravid to victory in his first match as a new senior coach. However, the think tank may not have thought much about his victory as it took time to correct the goals of the 165 races set by the visitors. For the second game, the team manager may consider joining the same group to win the series before making any changes to Game XI before the final.Kuala Lumpur Raffle: The newly appointed T20I Deputy Captain is looking forward to a modest lead in the first game, scoring only 15 times from 14 balls. Rahul looked good on the patch, but he couldn't move forward and turned his back in an attempt to catch Mitchell Santner.Rohit Sharma: The captain drove head-on, showed various shots and then dropped a single score of 48 points. Winning as captain gives Rohit new confidence in the rest of the match.Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar went out on the field with a positive intention and did nothing for the player in his amazing 62 game strike with a hit rate of over 150.Rishabh Pant: Wicket-keeper Pant showed a great application and played in a good position when Daryl Mitchell hit the out-of-bounds in the final round of the match and pushed the team to the goal line.Shreyas Iyer: Iyer's return to the team was unforgettable after being removed from the Indian team at the T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman. Ayer looked weak during an eight-ball stint in the penalty area and missed the ball along the way. At that time, management expected him to drive the team home with his pants.Venkatesh Iyer: All-terrain rookie Venkatesh Iyer didn't have the opportunity to play the ball, but he started his football career with an international cricket with four great people. However, he would be disappointed not to end the game because he was the victim of the reverse sweep of Mitchell's delivery.Axar Patel: Axar tries to win more in the game at Ranchi without losing a small gate in the opening match. He allowed 31 runs with 4 overs and he faced only one ball while chasing India.Ravichandran Ashwin: Ashwin was late in the wicket line, but he certainly had an impact when he got two wickets with two decent numbers of 23. The two wickets helped reduce New Zealand's culling rate.Bovneshwar Kumar: The form of Bovneshwar in the first match was very positive for the Indian national team. He seemed to be in full control as he shook the ball in both directions to catch two wickets in a six economy.Deepak Shahar: Shahar wants to improve the economy by giving more than 40 points in the first match. He threw the ball into the right area, but often lost control of his streak and handed many poor deliveries to New Zealand batters.Mohamed Siraj: Siraj looked like someone who came from a break after the IPL. His improvements can only be expected in the next match of the series. He made a small cut with 4 overs giving 39 rounds. For read daily article and know about sports news to visit here - Pitchhigh
The world at their feet, lakhs queuing on the streets of Mumbai for them and thousands more packing the stands of Wankhede Stadium -- the site of their 2011 World Cup triumph and where the 2007 T20 World Cup winning side held a similar celebration. What must it feel like to be Rohit Sharma tonight? To hear his name reverberating at the Wankhede Stadium in the same rhythm as “Sachin, Sachin!”. To receive a standing ovation from his own T20 World Cup-winning teammates.Or to be Virat Kohli. On the ground where he carried Sachin Tendulkar on his shoulders 13 years ago, the chants of fans were enough for Kohli to tear up.Or even Hardik Pandya. Booed relentlessly in Mumbai Indians’ hues of blue just three months ago. Tonight, they couldn’t stop singing his name. Pandya smiled and waved back; almost like the two parties putting the chapter behind them. Everything was forgiven and forgotten.Put simply, what would it feel like to be one of the Men in Blue. The world at their feet, lakhs queuing on the streets of Mumbai for them and thousands more packing the stands of Wankhede Stadium — the site of their 2011 World Cup triumph and where the 2007 T20 World Cup winning side held a similar celebration.“This title is for the country,” Rohit said, his words sending the crowd into a tizzy. Turning to them, he added: “Mumbai never disappoints.”Kohli concurred: “Bringing the trophy back to Wankhede is a very special feeling.”It nearly rained on India’s victory parade. But when the moment came, even the heavens, which intermittently opened up, played ball. The 1.7-km drive from the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) to Wankhede Stadium, on a normal day, takes not more than seven minutes. Thursday’s procession took almost two hours, with the open-top bus carrying Team India snaking through the deluge of crowd that had gathered on the streets of South Mumbai. When they finally arrived at Wankhede, at around 8.30 pm, it sent the fans who had been waiting impatiently for almost five hours into a delirium. Also Read: Worlds Biggest Stadium, Know the Names of Top 10On a night of nostalgia, emotions and endless intimate celebrations, there were stories steeped in symbolism wherever you looked. The party began with “King” Kohli leading “Mumbaicha Raja” Rohit to a dance to dhol beats. It ended with a poignant moment, with the two walking side-by-side with the trophy in their hands.A little while ago, Kohli had walked past his teammates to the back of the bus, where Rohit sat by himself, savouring every moment. Grabbing him by the arm, Kohli urged Rohit to join him in the front. Once there, the duo — whose careers have been the subject of many dressing-room intrigues — high-fived, laughed and hoisted the trophy together. For the heroes retiring from the T20 format, there could not have been a grander farewell. This was also a moment of sweet redemption for Rohit. It isn’t a secret how much it hurt him not to be a part of the 2011 World Cup side that lifted the trophy on this ground. Indeed, he was a part of a similar parade in 2007 which also, like Thursday, culminated at Wankhede.Rohit was only a cub back then. Like Shivam Dube is now. Back in 2007, a 14-year-old Shivam Dube saw Rohit on the open-top bus; a moment that kept the fire within him burning to make it big. In the final last Saturday, his 27-run knock was similar in nature — and importance — to Rohit’s 30 seventeen years ago.For long stretches, Dube shadowed another Mumbaikar, Surya Kumar Yadav, whose catch will go down as one of the iconic moments in Indian sport. In his interview to The Indian Express, Yadav laughed about the “sannatta” (silence) that greeted them in Barbados the morning after the win. “Once we reach India, kya maahaul hoga, we will feel only there,” he said.SKY would maybe crave some sannata now. For, their celebrations had gone from 0 to 100 in no time. The chartered Air India flight that ferried the players from Barbados reached the New Delhi airport in the early hours of Thursday. Those hours on the long flight were their last few moments of peace before the madness began. From the airport, where they were mobbed, they were whisked to a central Delhi hotel, where another mob awaited them. Greeted and garlanded at the hotel, they were asked to cut cakes, before changing into their India blues for breakfast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Back to the airport from there, their delayed flight to Mumbai was welcomed with a water cannon salute on the runway. It was a full 13 hours after they touched down in Delhi that the victory parade got underway. All this while, the crowd had started to trickle in at the Wankhede. The conditions at the stadium weren’t ideal for fans. Then again, India’s most romanticised stadium isn’t really among the most fan-friendly venues. On Thursday, they had been waiting for the world champions since 3.30 pm, endured sunshine, humidity and rain, and braved a stampede-like situation to get into the stands, where they sat on dusty seats without water for large parts, and access to limited toilets.Yet, the energy levels never dropped. Filled to capacity, the fans waved the national flag, chanted the names of their favourite players, sang and danced. The wait for this trophy was as excruciating for these all-weather Team India supporters as the players themselves.Quite fittingly, the symbolic night ended with a touching gesture from the captain — a salute and a bow to the fans. Also Read: Indian Cricket Birthday List
Dravid was offered the bonus amount following the national team's success but he was happy to settle for the due amount – 2.5 crore – similar to other coaching staffFormer India head coach Rahul Dravid has refused to take the bonus amount of 2.5 crore offered to him by the BCCI following the recent T-20 World Cup triumph in the Americas.Dravid was offered the bonus amount following the national team's success but he was happy to settle for the due amount – 2.5 crore – similar to other coaching staff. The BCCI wanted to repay Dravid for guiding India to the trophy in Barbados by hiking his reward to 5 crore, which is at par with the players, PTI has learnt that the 51-year-old was happy with an equal pay check as other coaching staff. It was more of a goodwill gesture than any official call as Dravid's tenure as India coach had originally ended after last year's 50-over World Cup at home. However, skipper Rohit Sharma and the governing body were successful in convincing Dravid to stay till the T20 World Cup as they then had felt that time was too short for a new coach to take up the high-pressure job.Dravid went on to end his India coaching stint as a World Cup winner, and talks have been swirling around him joining an IPL franchise as mentor. But at this point, the Bengaluru man seems to be keen to take a step back and relax after a hectic over two years tenure as the India head coach, before taking the next career move.Meanwhile, the BCCI on Tuesday appointed former India opener Gautam Gambhir as Dravid's successor for the next three years.Under Gambhir's coaching, the Kolkata Knight Riders won their third IPL trophy earlier this year. Also Read: Virat Kohli becomes first cricketer to hit 100 million followers on Instagram

Paris Olympics: Heartbreaking Disqualification for Vinesh PhogatIndian wrestler Vinesh Phogat faced a devastating setback at the Paris Olympics, as she was found marginally over the weight limit on the second day of competition in the 50 kg category. This disqualification means she will not compete for a medal on Wednesday evening. In an unfortunate turn of events, Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics after being slightly above the 50 kg weight limit on the morning of her gold medal bout. Despite the Indian team's best efforts through the night, she was just a few grams over the required weight. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) expressed their regret in a statement: "It is with regret that the Indian contingent shares news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Women’s Wrestling 50kg class. Despite the best efforts by the team through the night, she weighed in a few grams over 50kg this morning. No further comments will be made by the contingent at this time. The Indian team requests you respect Vinesh’s privacy. It would like to focus on the competitions on hand."Sources earlier indicated that Vinesh was approximately 100 grams over the permissible limit, leading to her disqualification. As per competition rules, this means she is not eligible even for a silver medal. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) later confirmed that Vinesh will be replaced by Yusneylis Guzman, the Cuban wrestler she defeated in the semi-final, in the gold-medal bout. The IOC statement read: "According to article 11 of the International Wrestling Rules, Vinesh will be replaced by the wrestler who lost against her in the Semifinal. Therefore Guzman Lopez Yusneylis (CUB) will compete in the Final. Repechage SUSAKI Yui (JPN) vs LIVACH Oksana (UKR) will become the Bronze Medal Match."Vinesh made the weight for Tuesday’s bouts, but competition rules require wrestlers to remain within their weight category on both days of the event. Also Read: Paris 2024 Olympics - Latest News, Schedules & Results
