In the year the COVID-19 pandemic shortened the cricket calendar, fast-paced cricketer Jasprit Bumrah became the highest-paid Indian cricketer in 2020. The brand surpassed cricketer Captain Virat Kohli, who was awarded Rs. 1.29 crore and pocketable Rs. 1.38 million rupees during the year. Each Indian cricketer pays Rs. 15 Lakhs, Rs. 6 lakhs, and Rs. 3 lakhs for each test, ODI and T20I played respectively. Now, players holding A+ grade contract earn a salary of Rs. 7 million rupees every year except for the same. In this sense, given that both Bumrah and Kohli are A + players and the former has played most of the games in this calendar year, he is the one who made the most money. What if Virat Played?Had Virat Kohli played the 2020 Final, Boxing Day Test against Australia won by India, he would have emerged as India's best cricketer ahead of Jasprit Bumrah. But due to paternity leave, this was not possible.Ravindra Jadeja is the third-highest paid cricketer.Rohit Sharma is not in the top fiveIndian Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma has yet to find a place in India's top five income countries this calendar year. This was due to the fact that due to fitness issues, the white ball leg was completely missed from the Australia Tour, as well as the first two test matches. The Junior was only able to play 3 ODI matches and 2 Match Test this calendar year, thus earning only Rs. 30 lakhs.Third on the list is Ravindra Jadeja, who has earned Rs. 96 lakhs over the course of a calendar year. The off-roader could have won more, but the injury kept him out of the starting line-up during the last two-quarters of the World Cup against Australia, as well as the first round in Adelaide. Also Read: Rajeev Shukla set to become BCCI vice-president

"The quarantine in Jamaica post the West Indies series provided me with an opportunity to reflect on the past 24 months as well as the schedule for international cricket ahead. Considering that I would have had to continue to spend considerable time away from my family and that too in a bio-secure environment, I have decided to step down from the role," Misbah said, as quoted by a PCB statement. "I understand that the timing may not be ideal, but I don't think I'm in the right frame of mind for the upcoming challenges and it makes sense for someone new to step in and take the side forward."Also Read- ICC T20 World Cup 2021 complete schedule: India to face Pakistan on October 24 Decided to step down together: Waqar YounisWaqar Younis said he decided to step down after Misbah communicated his decision to him. “After Misbah informed me of his decision and his future plans, it was easy for me to resign as we had walked into the roles together, we worked collectively as a pair and now also step down together. PCB can collapse if India wants as ICC getting 90 per cent of its funds from there: Ramiz Raja

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has to reduce its dependence on funding from the International Cricket Council (ICC) as much of cricket's global governing body gets its funding from India, said the board's chairman Ramiz Raja. Ramiz said that this effectively means that cricket in Pakistan is at the mercy of Indian businesses and any political pressure in India to stop this funding can spell disaster for the sport in the country. "The ICC is a politicised body divided between the Asian and Western blocs and 90 per cent of its revenues are generated from India. It is frightening," the PCB Chief said appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial affairs on Thursday in Islamabad. "In a way India's business houses are running Pakistan cricket and if tomorrow the Indian PM decides he will not allow any funding to Pakistan, this cricket board can collapse," he added, but did not elaborate on the specifics. Also Read- ICC T20 World Cup 2021 complete schedule: India to face Pakistan on October 24 The former Pakistan captain also said that the ICC has reduced into an "event management company" considering how New Zealand and England are pulling out of their tours of the country. New Zealand canceled their tour just minutes before the start of the first match citing a security threat and Ramiz said some good news could be in store regarding the series in a week's time. "What New Zealand did was unacceptable because till now they have not shared any information with us on what led them to abandon the series in Pakistan. But they are now trying to reschedule the series," said Ramiz. "The good thing is they are working on something which means they want to mend things with us," he said. Also Read- Virat Kohli becomes first Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in T20 format

Violence against Muslims in India was also reported after the emphatic 10-wicket win on Sunday, Pakistan first victory against India at any World Cup. Cricket clashes between India and Pakistan frequently heighten tensions between the neighbours, who have fought three wars since their independence in 1947. The 31-year-old Shami became the main target after the defeat in Dubai, even though India captain Virat Kohli admitted that his team had been "outplayed". Hundreds of messages were left on Shami's Instagram account saying he was a "traitor" and should be thrown out of the Indian team. Also Read- Virat Kohli becomes first India captain in 29 years to lose World Cup match vs Pakistan Former India batsman Virender Sehwag slammed online trolls for abusing fast bowler Mohammed Shami after India's defeat to Pakistan in the t20 WorldCup on Sunday. Pakistan kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with a resounding win over their arch-rivals, scoring 152 in 17.5 overs to register their first-ever 10-wicket win in the shortest format of international cricket. It is also one of the oldest Pakistani teams, with an average age of 30 + years. The match also saw Kohli get out for the first time in T20I against Pakistan after scoring 226 runs. Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik is at the end of his career, but his fan following hasn’t taken a dip by any means. On Sunday, October 24, he played his first game for Pakistan after almost 14 months and fans cheered for him. The veteran was a part of the marquee clash between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the T20 World Cup 2021. He didn’t get a chance to bat as Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan led Pakistan to 10 wickets win. Virat Kohli team asked the Men in Green to chase down 152 after which Babar and Rizwan made a mockery of the run-chase. Apart from cheering for Malik, the fans also poked fun at him. Malik got married to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on April 12, 2010.Fans cheer for Shoaib MalikFor over a decade, Shoaib and Sania have given young couples plenty of couple goals. They also have a son, named Izhaan Mirza Malik, who was born in 2018. When Malik was fielding near the boundary, a few fans called him ‘jeeja ji’, which means brother-in-law. The cheers for Malik were loud and clear. A fan uploaded the video on Twitter on Monday. Mirza, who has won six Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career, reacted to the fan video. The 34-year-old posted a couple of ‘laughing’ emoticons followed by two ‘heart’ emotions. https://t.co/NE46xoSKfu— Sania Mirza (@MirzaSania) October 25, 2021Prior to that, he also played a few matches for Central Punjab in the National T20 Cup. After India were made to eat humble pie on Sunday when they lost to Pakistan in the T20 World cup, former left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir took a dig at Harbhajan Singh on social media. Amir taunted Harbhajan after Pakistan's ten-wicket victory over cricket India on Sunday night, Amir took to Twitter on Monday and asked, “Harbhajan Paa ji ne TVto nai toda apna?” which loosely translates to “Did Harbhajan break his TV.” The comment was made over the taunts of Indians about Pakistani fans breaking their television sets after losing to India in the past editions of world cups.hello everyone woh pochna yeah tha @harbhajan_singh paa ji ne TV to ni tora apna koi ni hota hai end of the day its a game of cricket .— Mohammad Amir (@iamamirofficial) October 25, 2021To this, Singh replied on Twitter saying, “Ab Tum bi bologe @iamamirofficial. yeh 6 ki landing tumhare ghar k tv par to nahi hui thi ?? India got off to the worst possible start with openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul sent back to the pavilion by Shaheen Afridi within three overs with just six runs on the board. Shaheen Afridi had Rohit trapped in front of the wicket for a duck and then bowled Rahul through the gate. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant then joined forces to add 53 runs in quick time before the latter was caught out by leg-spinner Shadab Khan off his own bowling in the 13th over. Kohli was finally dismissed by Afridi after scoring a 49-ball 57. India was restricted to 151 in their 20 overs. Chasing 152 to win, Pakistan openers had no trouble in making light work of the target as Indian bowlers failed to get the breakthrough. Skipper Babar Azam stroked his way to unbeaten 68 runs while his opening partner, Mohammad Rizwan, smashed an unbeaten 79 runs to take the team past the finish line. Also Read- T20 World Cup: Mohammed Shami faces vicious online abuse after India loss to Pakistan

T20 World Cup: Why India vs New Zealand could be a do or die clash for both team

  • Oct 27, 2021

  • 1077

In the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE, Pakistan have emerged as the strongest team in Group 2. Out of the six teams which are in this group, India, Pakistan and New Zealand (ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the ICC T20I team rankings) are the three higher ranked teams, while Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia (ranked 8th, 14th and 19th respectively in the IC T20I team rankings) are the three lower ranked teams. Pakistan, in their first two matches have beaten the other two highest ranked teams in their group, India by 10 wickets and New Zealand by 5 wickets. This gave them a solid NRR of +0.738. They sit at the top of the group with 4 points from two games and are top of the group. Their remaining three matches will be against the lower ranked teams - Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia, which they are expected to win. Therefore, Pakistan looks in good shape to set a perfect record of 5 wins in the Super 12 stage and advance to the semi-finals. On the other hand, both India and New Zealand have yet to open their accounts. Both teams have played one match so far and both have lost, both of course to Pakistan. And this makes their clash against each other, which incidentally will be the next match for both these teams, a potential do or die affair.Assuming Pakistan, India and New Zealand defeat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland, the team that wins the India-New Zealand match will be the team that joins Pakistan in the semi-finals. After Pakistan beat New Zealand on Tuesday, there are now only two scenarios possible as far as Group 2 is concerned - either India beat NZ or NZ beat India. In scenario 1 - If India beat NZ - then India will finish on 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). In this scenario, Pakistan and India will be the two teams going into the semi-finals from this group. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. In scenario 2 - If New Zealand beat India - then India will end on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish with 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). And if this happens, then the Kiwis will be joining Pakistan as the second team from Group 2 to qualify for the knockouts. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. Of course, T20 is the most fickle format of the sport and an upset is not going to be surprising. The team which loses on Sunday could still make the semis, provided the other team is upset by a lower ranked team or teams and they themselves win their remaining matches. The Men in Blue play the Black Caps on Sunday, October 31. While India vs Pakistan was a keenly followed clash for obvious reasons, India vs New Zealand will be perhaps the most crucial encounter for both these teams. India is ranked higher than NZ in the team rankings in T20I cricket, but history favours New Zealand in their more recent encounters vs India in ICC tournaments. Incredibly, the last time India beat the Kiwis in an ICC tournament was way back in the 203 ICC ODI World Cup. In fact, in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in ICC tournaments, NZ have beaten India four times In T20 clashes overall as well it's the Black Caps who hold the edge. In 16 T20I meetings between the two teams, NZ have won 8, while India won 6 of these matches. Two matches were tied. The Men in Blue team is looking forward to their second t20 worldcup title. They will have to be at their best to keep those hopes real and good. Also Read- India vs Pakistan: Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Amir engage in war of words on Twitter

I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup: Virender Sehwag

The T20 World Cup 2021 has been an eventful affair so far. The fans have been all raring to watch the action unfold in the mega event. However, in the middle of the ongoing tournament, a fan asked former India cricketer Virender Sehwag who he thinks will clinch the title this year. Sehwag is always super active across his social media platforms. The former batter never shies away from expressing his opinions on the game. Thus, whilst answering the question of the fan, Sehwag was quick enough to back the Virat Kohli-led side in the marquee event. He pinned his hopes on team India to lift the trophy this year and also asked the people to support the team at times of defeat.India only have to play better cricket here onwards: Virender Sehwag“According to me, it’s Team India who will win this T20 World Cup. They’ll only have to play better cricket here onwards. We always cheer for our team when it wins but when it loses we have to support it even more. So, I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup,” Sehwag said in his latest episode of Virugiri Dot Com on Instagram. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag)Team India did not have a positive start to their t20 worldcup campaign. The team locked horns with Pakistan in their opening fixture. Although Men in Blue entered the competition as favorites to win considering their record against Pakistan in ICC events, the team faced defeat by ten wickets. The Babar Azam-led side exuded some great character to break India’s 12 matches winning streak and registered a thumping victory. Shaheen Shah Afridi was clinical with the ball as he sent back both the openers early on. Chasing down the target of 152, Pakistan’s openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played belligerent knocks to take the team past the victory. India's next mission is against New Zealand. Both sides have lost their previous encounters with Pakistan and will be keen on getting to winning ways. It will be a crucial match for both teams as a loss here will affect their chances of reaching the semi-finals.Also Read- Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain among 11 recommended for Khel Ratnas

Attacking Someone Over Religion Is Most Pathetic: Kohli backs Shami

Indian captain Virat Kohli on Saturday hit out at the social media abuse that was aimed at pacer Mohammed Shami after the team loss to Pakistan in the ICC Men’s t20 worldcup. The 31-year-old Shami was abused on social media after the 10-wicket defeat in Dubai, even though Kohli acknowledged that his side had been outplayed as a team. In a virtual press interaction ahead of India’s October 31 clash with New Zealand, Kohli brushed aside the “spineless” trolls, suggesting that those on the inside do not care about the “outside voice”. “There’s a reason we are playing on the field and not those spineless people,” Kohli said. “It’s unfortunate and sad to see people getting entertained. That is why we are doing what we are and those spineless people are doing what they are.” “Many people hide their identity in social media then try to troll the players and it is the lowest point in their life – all dramas outside due to the lack of self-confidence of them, we know how to back the players, there is no value from the outside voice.” Regrettably, Shami, the only Muslim player in the playing XI against Pakistan, was targeted over his religious beliefs, whereas incidents of communal harmony being disrupted in a few parts of the nation were reported the same day. “To me attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion but I personally have never even thought of discriminating someone over their religion,” Kohli said. “This is literally the lowest potential as a human being one can operate at.” “That [religious beliefs] is a very sacred and a personal thing to every human being and that should be left there. People take out their frustrations because they obviously have no understanding of what we do as individuals. They have no understanding of how much effort we put on the field. They have no understanding of the fact that someone like Mohammed Shami has won India a lot of matches in last few years and he’s been our primary bowler with Jasprit Bumrah when it comes to making an impact. “We are doing what we are doing on the field and none of these people [trolls] are even in the vicinity to even imagine doing something like that. They do not have the courage or the spine to do that. That is how I see things. “As a group, we understand how we need to stick together and how we need to back individuals and how need to focus on our strengths and whether people on the outside portray the fact that India cannot afford to lose a game of cricket is none of our business because we play sport and we understand how sport goes. So, how people think on the outside adds no value whatsoever. We never focussed on it and we will never focus on it going forward either.” “If people can overlook that and his passion for the country, honestly I don’t even want to waste one minute of my life to give any attention to the people, neither does Shami and neither does anyone else in the team. We stand by him fully. We are backing him 200% and all those who attacked him can come with more force if they want to. “Our brotherhood, our friendship within the team and nothing can be shaken. I can guarantee you as a captain of the team that we have built a culture where these things will not even be infiltered into this environment at all and that is a absolute guarantee from my side. A slew of former indian cricketer stood in solidarity with Shami. “The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa,” tweeted former India opener Sehwag. Sachin Tendulkar, too, lauded Shami for his commitment, while he reckoned that like any other player, it was merely an off day for the pacer. “When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have. I stand behind Shami & Team India.”Also Read- I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup: Virender Sehwag

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has now become the first-ever captain to notch up three half-centuries in a single T20 ICC World Cup.The prolific Pakistan captain is in red-hot form with the bat in the ongoing tournament. The right-handed batter scored a risk free 49-ball 70 against Namibia in Abu Dhabi. Unbeaten Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat against Namibia. The pair of Babar and Mohammed Rizwan put on 113 runs for the opening wicket. Babar scored a brisk 68 not out in Pakistan’s 10-wicket victory over arch-rival India. This victory was Pakistan's first win against India in the t20 worldcup, which dates back to 2007 when India won the inaugural tournament by beating Pakistan in the final. Pakistan won the 2009 edition. Babar scored a feisty 51 against Afghanistan, before Asif Ali smashed four sixes in an over to help pakistan cricket register a five-wicket win. The duo have also put on 4 century stands in 2021, most in a calendar year, including three 150 plus stands. Pakistan continued their team unchanged for the fourth consecutive game after defeating arch-rival India, New Zealand and Afghanistan in the Super 12 by successfully chasing. Captain Babar Azam said at the toss he wanted to test his bowlers ahead of the knockout stage, but warned his team “not to get complacent” against Namibia, which defeated Scotland. Also Read- Yuvraj Singh hints at comeback from retirement next year
