England vs India, 4th Test Day 1: Shardul Thakur breaks Ian Botham's record, hits fastest Test fifty in England

Shardul Thakur came on the counterattack on Thursday as he helped India advance to a respectable first innings total on Day 1 of 4 Test against England at the Oval. Shardul hit 57 of just 36 balls while stitching up 63 runs on just 48 balls with tail-ender Umesh Yadav after the top Indian batsman failed to make runs. Shardul Thakur reached fifty with his 3rd six, pulling Chris Woakes to the mid-wicket stand. Shardul celebrated his second test with a lot of swagger as he waved his bat to the dressing room and players stood up to applaud his brave effort. 50 runs in 31 balls, Shardul Thakur broke Ian Botham's record for the fastest fifty in England. Botham had reached the historic milestone with 32 balls in 1986 at the Oval. Notably, this was also India's second fastest 50 in a test match. Kapil Dev holds the record for the fastest fifty by an Indian batsman. He had hit 30 balls 50 against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982.7 boundaries and 3 sixes! Shardul Thakur went after everyone after the tea break and was hitting them hard. He made England pacers feel unsure of their length, as he drove with ease and go on back foot to punish shorter deliveries. Thakur hit 7 boundaries and 3 sixes while attacking England pacemakers. He made fun of the midfielder because he constantly kept finding the boundaries after clearing the player into the ring. Joe Root cut a frustrated figure as Shardul and Umesh expand the total of the India's first innings.India are bowled out for 191.Chris Woakes finishes with a four-for.#WTC23 | #ENGvIND | https://t.co/zRhnFiKhzZ pic.twitter.com/T8eP4jp8EB— ICC (@ICC) September 2, 2021Also Read- England vs India, 2nd Test: India Win Thriller At Lord's To Take 1-0 Series Lead vs England Also Read- Afghanistan cricket get green signal to play their 1st Test since Taliban's takeover, to face Australia in November

Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and his wife Ayesha Mukherjee have divorced after 8 years of marriage. Ayesha Mukherjee took to social media to confirm the news and put an end to all the rumors.Shikhar Dhawan married Ayesha Mukherjee, who has two daughters from her first marriage, in October 2012. The couple have a 7-year-old son named Zoravar, who was born in 2014.I THOUGHT DIVORCE WAS A DIRTY WORD UNTIL I BECAME A 2 TIME DIVORCEE. Funny how words can have such powerful meanings and associations. I experienced this first hand as a divorcee. The first time I went through a divorce I was soooooooo fu@kn scared. I felt like I had failed and I was doing something so wrong at that time.I felt as if I had let everyone down and even felt selfish. I felt that I was letting my parents down, I felt that I was letting my children down and even to some extent I felt as if I was letting God down. Divorce was such a dirty word.So now imagine, I have to go through it a second time. Woooahhhhhh. That is terrifying. Being divorced once before already, felt like I had more at stake the second time round. I had more to prove. So when my second marriage broke down it was really scary. All the feelings I felt when I went through it the first time came flooding in. Fear, failure and disappointment x 100. What does this mean for me? How does this define me and my relationship to marriage?"Well, once I went through the necessary actions and emotions of what had happened I was able to sit with myself and see that I was fine, I was actually doing great, even noticed my fear had totally disappeared. The remarkable thing is I actually felt much more empowered. I realised my fear and the meaning I gave to the word divorce was my own doing. So, once I realised this I started to redefine the word and the experience of divorce according to the way I wanted to see it and experience it," Ayesha Mukherjee posted on social media.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Aesha Mukerji (@apwithaesha)Shikhar Dhawan is currently in the UAE, where he will be playing for Delhi Capitals in the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to groom KL Rahul to be India's next captain.Gavaskar wants to appoint KL Rahul as T20 vice-captain for India, with Rohit Sharma appointed as captain after Virat Kohli decided to leave the captaincy after the T20 World Cup.“It's a good thing that the BCCI is looking ahead. It's important to think ahead,” said Sunil Gavaskar“If India are looking to groom a new captain, then KL Rahul can be looked at. He has performed well. Even now in England, his batting was very good. He has been performing well in IPL and 50-overs cricket as well at the international stage. He can be made vice-captain,” said Gavaskar.Gavaskar praised Karnataka's batsman for his quality of leadership shown in the IPL. Rahul is the captain of Punjab Kings in the IPL.Also Read- Virat Kohli to step down as India T20 captain after World Cup“He has shown very impressive leadership qualities in the IPL. Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 season

When one talks about the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, the first name that comes to mind is Virat Kohli. The legendary batsman has been associated with the franchise since the inception of the league's in 2008 and has become a formidable figure in its history. Kohli has been the face and captain of RCB since he took over as captain in the middle of the 2012 season. He has been an ambassador for the franchise in T20 cricket. But despite his impressive performances on the field with the bat, Kohli has not managed to lift the IPL trophy ever, either as a player or captain. He came within touching distance in 2016, when he re-wrote the record books by scoring 973 runs in the tournament as he single-handedly took his team to the final. But it was not to be as his team lost to SunRisers Hyderabad. The 2021 season will be Kohli's last chance to win the coveted league as the RCB captain.Virat Kohli on Sunday made it clear that he will continue playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore but won't be captaining the team beyond the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Also Read- Virat Kohli to step down as India T20 captain after World CupKohli dropped his second bombshell this week as he confirmed the news in a video posted by RCB on social media. IPL 2021, PBKS vs RR: Battle for survival between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals

On paper, Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals have more than a few things in common in the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both affected by the withdrawal of players and locked at six points each, the two teams will look to revive their falling campaign during their clash at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday.Wicketkeeper captains KL Rahul and Sanju Samson comfortably sit among the top six scorers of the tournament, but their individual efforts have left no impact on their team's performances so far. With the odds stacked against them in their 14th attempt to lift the elusive trophy, Punjab Kings will hope for their coach Anil Kumble and the leadership group to get their campaign back on track. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 seasonDuring his playing career, Kumble had back India from the clutches of defeat on numerous occasions. With the former India captain name doing the rounds for a second stint as head coach of the national team once Ravi Shastri completes his tenure after the T20 World Cup, the legendary leg-spinner will look to prove his mettle as a franchise coach. Before his fallout with Virat Kohli, Kumble had coached India to the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final. However, his brief tenure as coach of the Punjab Kings has yet to produce the desired results. The Mohali-based franchise finished sixth in 2020 and is currently at the same spot midway into the IPL 2021 season.Tuesday's competition will be more about what kinds of starts can be made by the top order players on both sides. As for the Kings, Rahul and Mayank are expected to open with Chris Gale providing just the right momentum to their innings at No.3.Prabhsimran Singh is another exciting prospect at the top of the order in case he gets into the XI. The middle order will be manned by Mandeep Singh, M Shahrukh Khan and a toss-up between new recruit Aiden Markram and West Indian Nicholas Pooran, eager to get over a nightmarish first phase, where he got four ducks.Leg-spin remains Punjab's forte and the addition of experienced campaigner Adil Rashid, alongside the India pair of Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin, could come in handy in UAE conditions. The withdrawals of Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson means Mohammed Shami is set to be partnered by either Chris Jordan or Nathan Ellis. Left-armer Arshdeep Singh's improved death bowling will also strengthen his case.Similarly for the Rajasthan, a lot will depend on the start provided by power-hitters Liam Livingston and Evin Lewis. Coming to the IPL after some sensational performances in "The Hundred" for Birmingham Phoenix, Livingston will be excited to stretch his run, while at the same time his skills will be tested against a high-quality leg-spin.Weakened by the withdrawal of Ben Stokes, Joss Butler and Jofra Archer, Rajasthan hope that their Indian Players like Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Jaydev Unadkat and Chetan Sakariya to turn the tide. Also Read- Pakistan vs New Zealand: Entire tour called off due to security concerns minutes before 1st ODI

Delhi Capitals have been the team to beat in IPL 2021, with Rishabh Pant doing a great job leading the franchise in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. But that was all before Covid outbreak in the IPL bio-bubble that led to the tournament being postponed. Iyer is back, but Pant will continue to lead the team, at least until the end of the current season. Delhi hopes to pick up where it left off in India, and their first test comes in the form of bottom-placed SunRisers Hyderabad on Wednesday. While DC was the form team in the first leg in India, SRH endured a nightmare. The team had just one win under their belt from seven games.SRH's dreadful showing cost David Warner his captaincy and he was replaced by Kane Williamson before the tournament was halted. The Covid-enforced break, however, came at the right time for SRH. The team has now had time to regroup and hopes that a change of scenery will lead to a change of fortunes. Also Read- DC vs SRH Dream11 Prediction, Fantasy Cricket Tips, Playing XI UpdatesBefore the UAE resumed, SRH was hit hard when England star Jonny Bairstow withdrew from the tournament.Jonny Bairstow is the top-scorer for SRH this season with 248 runs in seven matches, boasting a strike-rate of 141.71. SRH have added West Indies batsman Sherfane Rutherford to their squad following Bairstow's withdrawal.Rashid Khan will once again hold the key for SRH when it comes to bowling but others will need to provide him support. Bhuvneshwar Kumar seems to be getting back to his best and that will be good news for the Hyderabad franchise.Delhi are currently level on 12 points with league leaders Chennai Super Kings but have an inferior run-rate to MS Dhoni's team. The five-time champion Mumbai Indians did not start well in the second leg of IPL 2021, as they lost to Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. They did a good job of pick up the wicket early on, but later in death overs, they conceded plenty of runs, which brought about their downfall. Rohit Sharma, who missed the last match due to a niggle, is likely to be back for this match. On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders were stunning against RCB in their previous match, as they bowled Virat Kohli’s team out for just 92 runs. The Knights then chased the target with 10 overs still left in the game. This was one of the biggest victories in IPL in terms of balls remaining. Youngsters are doing great work for KKR at the moment.Match Details:Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Match 34Venue:Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu DhabiDate & Time: September 23rd at 7:30 PM IST, and at 6:00 PM local timeLive Streaming:Star Sports Network and Disney+HotstarPitch Report:The wicket is conducive for the bowlers, and we witnessed some terrific bowling performances from KKR bowlers against RCB on Monday. That being said, he is a match-winner who has got the necessary backing of the Mumbai team management to play freely. He has scored 176 runs so far in this IPL at an average of 22.Shubman Gill played a sensible knock in the last match against RCB. The 22-year-old talented batter from Punjab scored 48 runs from 34 deliveries in the run chase. Overall, in this year’s IPL, he has amassed 180 runs in 8 matches at an average of 22.5.Top Picks – All-RoundersKrunal Pandya can be a good budget pick. He might be struggling to make a big impression in this IPL. However, he is a resilient all-rounder and will be hopeful of delivering well in this match.Andre Russell was brutal with the ball against RCB. His unplayable yorker to dismiss AB de Villiers was one of the main highlights of the match. He ended with the figures of 3/9.Top Picks – BowlersTrent Boult is a wicket-taking bowler who swings the ball both ways and is very effective in the powerplay. The New Zealand left-arm quick has scalped 10 wickets in this year’s IPL, with the best figures of 3/28.Varun Chakravarthy likes to attack the stumps every time he runs in, and he did the same against RCB. Bangalore batters struggled to read his variations and fell to his trap. He was the player of the match for his figures of 3/13.Top Picks – WicketkeepersQuinton de Kock was cruising well in the match against Chennai Super Kings, but was dismissed when he was batting on 17 runs. He has mustered 172 runs in 7 matches so far in this year’s IPL, with the highest score of 70*.Suggested Playing XI No.1 for MI vs KKR Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Andre Russell (vc), Venkatesh Iyer, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Varun ChakravarthySuggested Playing XI No.2 for MI vs KKR Dream11 Fantasy Cricket:Quinton de Kock (c), Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill (vc), Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Lockie Ferguson, Varun ChakravarthyMI vs KKR Risky Captaincy Choices:Playing in his debut IPL game, Venkatesh Iyer played some breath-taking shots against RCB and fearlessly attacked the top-quality bowlers. He remained not out on 41* runs from 27 deliveries. He is a risky captaincy pick for your fantasy teams. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to his role of a number three, but Nitish Rana played quite a few extraordinary knocks in the first phase of IPL 2021, where he batted as an opener. In fact, he scored a half-century against Mumbai Indians.Player you should avoid:Dinesh Karthik bats way down the order for KKR, which is why it’s hard to pick him in the final eleven. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 season

IPL 2021, MI vs KKR: It's Rohit Sharma vs Varun Chakravarthy as Mumbai Indians eye win

Bolstered by the return of Captain Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians (MI), still agonizing from their defeat against the Chennai Super Kings will look to return against the Varun Chakravarthy (KKR) inspired Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Sheikh Zayed Abu Dhabi Stadium on Thursday night. The Tamil Nadu tweaker won handsome praise from India and RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who said he’s going to be “a key factor when he plays for India” after taking 3/13 in four overs. The 30-year-old’s magical spell included as many as 15 dot balls and Glenn Maxwell was one of his three scalps. When the teams met in Chennai during the first stage of the IPL, Rohit hit 43 off 32 balls and Chakravarthy took 1-27 in four overs, as MI won by 10 runs. Their 10-wicket victory over RCB allowed KKR to climb a little further to sixth spot on the table with six points from eight games. In order to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need to keep winning from here. Also Read- Virat Kohli to quit RCB captaincy after the end of IPL 2021 seasonMissing the services of their talismanic captain and India allrounder Hardik Pandya, MI went down by 20 runs to CSK on Sunday night. Both the players were rested as a precautionary measure, allowing them to recover from their niggles. While there’s still doubt over Pandya’s availability, head coach Mahela Jayawardene had said that Rohit should be returning for the KKR match. In a pre-match presser on Wednesday, MI’s left-arm pacer Trent Boult said: “They (Rohit and Hardik) are both recovering very well. In terms of their selection for the next game, I’m not too sure what’s going on there. But day by day, they are improving. It was probably more of precaution that they had that extra bit of rest the other night against Chennai. But they are obviously two vital players in the XI for Mumbai. And we’re desperate to get them back. So, fingers crossed that they’ll be pretty good to go over the next couple of games.”Lying at the fourth spot with eight games in eight matches, MI desperately need their key players for the business end of the tournament.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Mumbai Indians (@mumbaiindians)He (Rohit) was sorely missed. He is right up there in terms of experience and runs achieved in this format. So, it was a big hole but it was a good decision to make sure (that) he’s 100% with the amount of cricket coming up. If he comes to the eleven, it will be brilliant, but we want to make sure he is 100% fit,” said Boult.Whether Pandya plays on Thursday or not, he will also be seen by the Indian selectors, who chose him ahead of players like Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar for the T20 World Cup, which follows directly from the IPL in the United Arab Emirates.“If Hardik is fully fit, he can contribute with both bat and ball. He’s a very good player for any side. He’s working hard to get himself fit and we’re desperate to have him back,” said Boult. They would blame themselves for allowing CSK to get out of jail in the last game. Having reduced them to 24 for four in six overs, MI’s stand-in captain Kieron Pollard perhaps allowed their opponents to get off the hook when he chose to take off pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Boult and bring on his spinners. Also Read- Former Mr India contest winner Manoj Patil attempts suicide, blames actor Sahil Khan for harrassment

Sunrisers Hyderabad will face the Rajasthan Royals in the 40th match of the IPL 2021 on Monday, September 27 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Sunrisers, led by Kane Williamson, are in dire straits as they are languishing right at the bottom of the table. In their previous game, they lost to Punjab Kings by five runs after failing to chase 126 runs. Jason Holder shot five sixes to keep the Orange Army in the game, but his efforts went in vain. Going into the next game, it won’t be a surprise if they make quite a few changes in their playing eleven. The Royals, on the other hand, are placed at seventh in the IPL table. The 33-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals would have dented their confidence to some extent. But their skipper, Sanju Samson, looked in great touch. RR don’t have much room for complacency and need to string a few victories.Match DetailsMatch:Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals – 40th matchVenue:Dubai International Cricket Stadium, DubaiTime:7:30 PM IST, 02:00 PM GMTWhere to watch live:Star Sports Network, HotstarPitch ReportThe pitch in Dubai has been fairly good for batting. He also has five Test centuries to his name, scoring a total of 2914 runs in the longest format. "I just felt like I was done, especially during the India series," said Moeen on the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) website, referring to the recent five-match Test series that was played between India and England. The fifth match was called off and Moeen said that while he wanted to reach a few milestones, he was content with calling time on his career. "I was hoping to play the last one, there were a couple of milestones I wanted to try and get in this series. But once that game was called off I was happy and done. It's been a good journey," he further said.Moeen said that he wants to prolong his career and that the intensity of Test cricket does take a mental and emotional toll. "I'm 34 now and I want to play for as long as I can and I just want to enjoy my cricket. Test cricket is amazing, when you’re having a good day it’s better than any other format by far, it’s more rewarding and you feel like you’ve really earnt it," he said. "I will miss just walking out there with the lads, playing against best in the world with that feeling of nerves but also from a bowling point of view, knowing with my best ball I could get anyone out. I've enjoyed Test Cricket but that intensity can be too much sometimes and I feel like I’ve done enough of it and I’m happy and content with how I’ve done," he further said. Moeen made his Test debut in a match against Sri Lanka at Lord's on June 12, 2014. His first Test wicket was that of Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara, who was batting on 147 at the time. 64 Test matches195 wickets2914 runsCountless memories #ThankYouMo — England Cricket (@englandcricket) September 27, 2021'Hope I made it easier for someone to take up cricket' He said he hopes that his Test career will inspire and open the door for other British Muslims to play for England. He said he was inspired in a similar way by former South Africa batsman Hashim Amla. "It always takes somebody to inspire you or takes somebody to think if he can do it I can and I hope there are a few people out there who are thinking that. I know he wasn't English but someone like Hashim Amla, when I first saw him, I thought if he can do it I can do it, it does take that little spark," said Moeen. "I'd love one day in 8-10 years' time (someone) to say Moeen made it easier for me. There have been guys before me who made it easier, so you hope to open the door for someone else." In the first match of the double header on Tuesday, Kolkata Knight Riders will face Delhi Capitals in Match 41 of the IPL 2021. The game completely slipped away from the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders in the penultimate over of the match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. From now the tournament will get more and more difficult for Knight Riders, as they will need to win four more matches to qualify for the next stage. Rahul Tripathi has been sensational with the bat in this IPL and he will the man to watch out for in this match. Delhi Capitals have almost confirmed their playoff spot, awaiting only official classification. Now, they will be aiming to finish in the top 2 places. They played as a strong unit right from the first leg and rarely have we spotted their mistakes. Shreyas Iyer has made a strong statement after returning from the injury. Rajasthan Royals will go one-on-one against Mumbai Indians in the 51st match of the IPL 2021. It’s a must-win match for both teams and as they are aiming for the one remaining one playoff spot. Rajasthan Royals kept their qualifying hopes alive by defeating current table leaders Chennai Super Kings in their previous match by seven wickets with 15 balls remaining in the match. They made plenty of changes to their playing XI and they got the desired result. The tournament is still wide open and Rajasthan need to win their remaining 2 matches to make it to the playoffs.Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, did not perform well as a unit in the second phase of the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore will go head-to-head against Kolkata Knight Riders in Eliminator of the IPL 2021. Royal Challengers Bangalore are still looking for their first IPL title and it is a perfect opportunity for them this year as they have secured the perfect mix of experienced and talented youngsters. They missed the chance to finish the race in the top two spots on the basis of net run rate, as Virat Kohli's men finished third in the standings with 18 points. However, they are still playing an excellent brand of cricket throughout this IPL and will be looking forward to do their best in the playoffs. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders had an exceptional second leg of IPL, where they bounced back from the bottom half of the table and finished fourth in the standings. They relied mainly on youngsters, who did not disappoint them. They had won their last two matches and look to extend their winning streak. Whoever wins this match will go through to Qualifier 2, whereas the loser will be knocked out of the tournament.Match Details:Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders, EliminatorVenue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, SharjahDate & Time: October 11th at 7:30 PM IST, and at 6:00 PM local timeLive Streaming: Star Sports Network and Disney+HotstarPitch Report:The surface here at Sharjah has become a bowling-friendly one and the batters have struggled to score runs. Harshal Patel equals Bravo's all-time record of 32 wickets in an IPL season

Royal Challengers Bangalore champion fast bowler Harshal Patel came close to breaking a long-standing Indian Premier League (IPL) but fell 1 wicket short as his team crashed out of the 2021 season after a 4-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator on Monday. Harshal picked up 2 for 19 from his 4 overs to finish his IPL 2021 campaign with 32 wickets and equal Dwayne Bravo's record for the most scalps in a single season. The Chennai Super Kings all-rounder had achieved the amazing feat in the 2013 season. The right-arm pacer had the chance to better Bravo's record in his final over when Sunil Narine top-edged his slower delivery towards mid-on but Devdutt Padikkal dropped the catch. Harshal is the only player to pick a hat-trick this season, against the Mumbai Indians in Dubai last month. He is also one of three to pick a five-wicket haul (5 for 27) this season alongside Punjab Kings' Arshdeep Singh (5 for 32) and KKR's Andre Russell (5 for 15) Harshal's performance meanwhile, went in vain as KKR chase down 139 against RCB with 4 wickets in hand and 2 balls to spare to set up Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals on October 13.Most wickets in an IPL season: Harshal Patel (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – 32 wickets in IPL 2021 Dwayne Bravo (Chennai Super Kings) – 32 wickets in IPL 2013 Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals) – 30 wickets in IPL 2020 Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) – 28 wickets in IPL 2011 James Faulkner (Rajasthan Royals) – 28 wickets in IPL 2013The match turned out to be the final match for Virat Kohli as captain of the RCB. Kohli, who took over as RCB's full-time captain in 2013 from Daniel Vettori, had said midway during the season that he would give up captaincy after completing of IPL 2021.It was a disappointing end to one of the most talked about captaincy tenures in the IPL as Kohli finished without a trophy despite leading the franchise for 8 seasons.“I have given my best. I don’t know how the response has been, but I have given 120% to this franchise every time, which is something I will now do as a player. It is a great time to regroup and restructure for the next three years with people who will take this ahead,” the outgoing skipper said."I have tried my best to create a culture where youngsters could come in & play with freedom & belief.I have given 120% to RCB every time, which is something I will now do as a player.”You have been an inspiration, role model and the torchbearer of RCB. #ThankYouCaptainKohli pic.twitter.com/tlC0uMH2iW— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 11, 2021“I don’t see myself playing anywhere else. Loyalty matters more to me than worldly pleasures. I would be in the RCB till the last day I play in the IPL.”We fought till the end and never gave up but it just wasn’t our night. Thank you, 12th Man Army for all your support this season. We will be back next year with the same Challenger Spirit. #PlayBold #WeAreChallengers #RCBvKKR pic.twitter.com/55qcDByZnu— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) October 11, 2021Also Read- T20 World Cup 2021 Schedule, All Teams, Host, Time Table, Venue

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has been arrested and released on interim bail by Haryana police for using casteist slur against spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Yuvraj was reportedly arrested and interrogated for over 3 hours before being released. Advocate Rajat Kalsan fought a long struggle after registering an FIR under the SC ST Act in Hansi police station city. Yuvraj Singh has been released on formal bail on the orders of the court. Hansi SP Nitika Gahlout informed here today that Yuvraj has joined the investigation as directed by the court with the investigation officer today. A case was registered against Yuvraj in February this year by a Hansi-based resident over a 'distasteful' and 'disrespectful' comment against Dalit society during an Instagram discussion with Chahal from 2020.Also Read- T20 World Cup 2021 Schedule, All Teams, Host, Time Table, Venue The case was registered against Yuvraj Singh on Sunday in the Hansi police station of Hisar. Police have registered the FIR under Sections 153, 153A, 295, 505 of IPC, besides sections 3 (1) (r) and 3 (1) (s) of SC/ST Act. The FIR comes 8 months after an advocate from Hisar filed a police complaint against the cricketer for his 'casteist comments'. Yuvraj allegedly made the 'casteist remark' during a live Instagram session with India's opener Rohit Sharma in June 2020. The former World Cup winner all-rounder had issued an apology, saying he never believed in disparity. Yuvraj had taken to Twitter and apologised for "unintentionally hurting sentiments" of a particular society of people. "This is to clarify I have never believed in any kind of disparity, be it on the basis of caste, colour, creed or gender. I have given and continue to spend my life for the welfare of people. I believe in the dignity of life and respect each individual without exception," Yuvraj Singh said in his post. "I understand that while I was having a conversation with my friends, I was misunderstood, which was unwarranted. However, as a responsible Indian I want to say that if I have unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments or feelings, I would like to express regret for the same." T20 World Cup: India look to fix batting order in final warm-up game against Australia

  • Oct 19, 2021

Their preparations for the T20 World Cup off to a smooth start, and India will look to finalize their batting order for the tournament-proper when they face Australia in their second and final warm-up match on Wednesday. India will clash against Pakistan in their main event lung-opener on Sunday. The tournament will be Virat Kohli's last as skipper in the format besides being the swan-song for head coach Ravi Shastri. As Kohli pointed out before the preparation game against England on Monday, India's top three is already settled when KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma opening the batting and the skipper coming in at the crucial no.3 position. Having made a stroke-filled 70 before retiring in the seven-wicket win over England, the young Ishan Kishan has also staked his claim for a place in the playing eleven. Rishabh Pant (29 not out) was promoted ahead of SuryaKumar Yadav and it remains to be seen where the latter bats on Wednesday. Rohit didn't bat against England and come Wednesday the right-hander is expected to get a go against the Australians. The talking point, however, remains all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who did not seem comfortable in his short stint against England. With Pandya not bowling, it remains to be seen whether the Indian think-tank will play him purely as a batter. India will also miss the sixth bowling option if one of the five strong attacks has an off day on the field. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had one against England on Monday, but Jasprit Bumrah was at his best. Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets, while Rahul Chahar was taken to task by the England batters. And come Wednesday, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur and mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy are expected to get a look in before the main business begins. On recent form, since losing the home series against Australia 2-0 before the 2019 ODI World Cup, India was unbeaten in eight series in a row. Since the 2016 T20 World Cup, India have played 72 T20 matches and won 45. Australia also began with winning start to their preparations with Josh Inglis hitting two fours in the final over to help his team beat New Zealand by three wickets a warm-up match in Abu Dhabi on Monday. There was mixed news for Australia in their first warm-up as David Warner's horror run continued after he was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Adam Zampa (2/17) and Kane Richardson (3/24) impressed with the ball, but a middle-order collapse meant the Australians needed late cameos from Ashton Agar (23 off 18 balls), Mitchell Starc (13 not out off 9) and Inglis (8 not out off 2) to secure the win. The Aussies have never exactly been a huge force in the shortest format and it remains to be seen whether they are able to finally get thngs going at the biggest stage. Teams (from): India: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur. T20 World Cup warm-up: Rahul, Kishan power India to seven wicket win over England

India produced an energetic performance with the bat on Monday to beat England by 7-wickets in their first T20 World Cup warm-up match in Dubai. Chasing 189 for victory, the 2007 champions rode on destructive half-centuries from Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul to cross the finish line with 6 balls to spare. Kishan and Rahul opened the batting and added 82 for the first wicket to lay a solid foundation for the run chase before the latter got out against the run of play for 51 to Mark Wood. Virat Kohli, who dropped to No. 3 to accommodate Rahul at the top, suffered a rare failure with the bat, scoring just 11 off 13 balls. Kishan carried on attacking the England bowlers and top-scored with 70 not out of 46 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes before being replaced by Suryakumar Yadav, but this move did not work because he couldn't fire as according to expectations and got out for 8 with India needing 21 off 15 balls. Fortunately, the duo of Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya did what was needed and knocked off the required runs without much trouble. Pant finished the match with six and finished with 29 not out while Pandya scored 12 not out.Impressive batting performance Fine bowling display #TeamIndia beat England & win their first warm-up game. #INDvENG #T20WorldCup : Getty Images pic.twitter.com/jIBgYFqOjz— BCCI (@BCCI) October 18, 2021Earlier, Mohammed Shami snapped three wickets but Jonny Bairstow smashed a 36-ball 49 to help England post a challenging 188 for 5 after being asked to bat first by Virat Kohli. Besides Shami (3/40), fellow pacer Jasprit Bumrah (1/26) and spinner Rahul Chahar (1/43) were also among wickets at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. Bairstow hit one six and had four hits to the fence in his knock, while Liam Livingstone (30) also contributed with the bat. But it was Moeen Ali's whirlwind 20-ball 43 which powered England to a good score in the end. India will next face Australia in their second warm-up match at the same venue on Wednesday (October 20) while England will lock horns with New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. If reports are to be believed Bollywood superstars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are set to bid for one of the two new IPL teams for the upcoming season. Manchester United, a popular Premier League club for whom Cristiano Ronaldo plays, has been a deemed a dark-horse ahead of the bidding process, scheduled to take place on October 25 in Dubai. Cricket IPL has already seen the presence of stars from the Indian film industry. Preity Zinta and Shah Rukh Khan are associated with the Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders since the inception of the IPL back in 2008. Deepika has a sports background with his father Prakash Padukone being a former All England badminton champion. On the other hand, Ranveer is the brand ambassador of the NBA, a popular basketball league. He has also been involved with EPL teams. Several companies around the world are said to be involved in the star-studded bidding process. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, extended the deadline for bidders to Wednesday, October 20.Results to IPL bidding will be declared after India-Pakistan gameAs per reports, a corporate giant in India has backed the Manchester United, whose et debt increased to 455 million GBP during the COVID-19 pandemic.  “The BCCI is not keen to give the rights to an off-shore company and will prefer Indian buyers but power equations can change the script dramatically,” the source was quoted as saying, Outlook reported. The results of the tender will be announced a day after the T20 World Cup 2021 match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. “Although it is a closed bid, we are expecting a fair and transparent process. The only hodgepodge could happen in the verification/elimination stage but it is unlikely BCCI will adopt unfair means to favour particular companies,” a bidder said on conditions of anonymity. It has also been learned that Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the frontrunners to become the two new IPL teams for the next seasons. Previously, the BCCI shortlisted six cities- Ranchi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Ranchi and Cuttack for the same. The 2021 IPL ended on October 15 and since then, the BCCI has been scratching its head for the next edition. Also Read- Yuvraj Singh Arrested, Released on Bail Over Casteist Remark on Yuzvendra Chahal

T20 World Cup: Mohammed Shami faces vicious online abuse after India loss to Pakistan

A torrent of social media abuse was targeted at the only Muslim player in the Indian playing XI, Mohammed Shami, after his side were thrashed by arch rivals Pakistan at the T20 World Cup. Violence against Muslims in India was also reported after the emphatic 10-wicket win on Sunday, Pakistan first victory against India at any World Cup. Cricket clashes between India and Pakistan frequently heighten tensions between the neighbours, who have fought three wars since their independence in 1947. The 31-year-old Shami became the main target after the defeat in Dubai, even though India captain Virat Kohli admitted that his team had been "outplayed". Hundreds of messages were left on Shami's Instagram account saying he was a "traitor" and should be thrown out of the Indian team. Also Read- Virat Kohli becomes first India captain in 29 years to lose World Cup match vs Pakistan Former India batsman Virender Sehwag slammed online trolls for abusing fast bowler Mohammed Shami after India's defeat to Pakistan in the t20 WorldCup on Sunday. I’m talking about of few years back. THIS CRAP NEEDS TO STOP. #Shami— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) October 25, 2021Fans and politicians also urged support for him, calling on Indian players to reject the hate messages just as they had backed the Black Lives Matter movement by taking a knee. "Team India your BLM knee-taking counts for nothing if you can't stand up for your teammate who is being horribly abused and trolled on social media," Omar Abdullah, a former chief minister of Kashmir, said on Twitter. "Ignore the haters, most of India's grateful for your effort," said another supporter on Instagram. Gautam Gambhir, a former India Test cricketer who has become an MP for the Bharatiya Janata Party, said it was "shameful" that people were celebrating  Pakistan's win. India was defeated by Pakistan in their first match of 2021 T20 World Cup. Shaheen Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking the three crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. His efforts helped Pakistan restrict India to 151/7. Pakistan openers Mohammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam made light work of the 152-run chase, getting to the target in the 18th over to break the World Cup jinx and register their first-ever 10-wicket win in a T20I match. Also Read- Manchester United owners show 'interest' in IPL franchise

Virat Kohli became the first Indian captain to lose a World Cup match against Pakistan in 29 years as his team went down by 10 wickets in their first opening game of the Super 12s in Group 2 in Dubai. Pakistan kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with a resounding win over their arch-rivals, scoring 152 in 17.5 overs to register their first-ever 10-wicket win in the shortest format of international cricket. It was Pakistan's first-ever win by 10 wickets against any opposition in a T20, while India also confronted the ignominy of losing by such a margin for the first time. 152 is also Pakistan's highest opening stand against India in the format. This Pakistan team has a combined experience of 625 matches - making it the most experienced team ever to take the field in a T20 international. It is also one of the oldest Pakistani teams, with an average age of 30 + years. The match also saw Kohli get out for the first time in T20I against Pakistan after scoring 226 runs. Kohli's 57 team helped India reach 151 for 7 in 20 after being put in to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium. Virat Kohli scored 226 runs against Pakistan in the t20 WorldCup and was sent off just once. Kohli headed into the T20 World Cup having scored 169 runs in 3 innings without getting dismissed in the showpiece T20I events against their arch-rivals. It was another high-quality innings against one of his favorite opponents as the India captain led the way with the bat but the end result was not enough to stop Pakistan. Also Read- IPL 2022: Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone To Bid For Two New IPL Teams- Reports

After India were made to eat humble pie on Sunday when they lost to Pakistan in the T20 World cup, former left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir took a dig at Harbhajan Singh on social media. Amir taunted Harbhajan after Pakistan's ten-wicket victory over cricket India on Sunday night, Amir took to Twitter on Monday and asked, “Harbhajan Paa ji ne TVto nai toda apna?” which loosely translates to “Did Harbhajan break his TV.” The comment was made over the taunts of Indians about Pakistani fans breaking their television sets after losing to India in the past editions of world cups.hello everyone woh pochna yeah tha @harbhajan_singh paa ji ne TV to ni tora apna koi ni hota hai end of the day its a game of cricket .— Mohammad Amir (@iamamirofficial) October 25, 2021To this, Singh replied on Twitter saying, “Ab Tum bi bologe @iamamirofficial. yeh 6 ki landing tumhare ghar k tv par to nahi hui thi ?? India got off to the worst possible start with openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul sent back to the pavilion by Shaheen Afridi within three overs with just six runs on the board. Shaheen Afridi had Rohit trapped in front of the wicket for a duck and then bowled Rahul through the gate. Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant then joined forces to add 53 runs in quick time before the latter was caught out by leg-spinner Shadab Khan off his own bowling in the 13th over. Kohli was finally dismissed by Afridi after scoring a 49-ball 57. India was restricted to 151 in their 20 overs. Chasing 152 to win, Pakistan openers had no trouble in making light work of the target as Indian bowlers failed to get the breakthrough. Skipper Babar Azam stroked his way to unbeaten 68 runs while his opening partner, Mohammad Rizwan, smashed an unbeaten 79 runs to take the team past the finish line. Also Read- T20 World Cup: Mohammed Shami faces vicious online abuse after India loss to Pakistan

T20 World Cup: Why India vs New Zealand could be a do or die clash for both team

  • Oct 27, 2021
  • pitchhigh
  • 1350

In the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE, Pakistan have emerged as the strongest team in Group 2. Out of the six teams which are in this group, India, Pakistan and New Zealand (ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the ICC T20I team rankings) are the three higher ranked teams, while Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia (ranked 8th, 14th and 19th respectively in the IC T20I team rankings) are the three lower ranked teams. Pakistan, in their first two matches have beaten the other two highest ranked teams in their group, India by 10 wickets and New Zealand by 5 wickets. This gave them a solid NRR of +0.738. They sit at the top of the group with 4 points from two games and are top of the group. Their remaining three matches will be against the lower ranked teams - Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia, which they are expected to win. Therefore, Pakistan looks in good shape to set a perfect record of 5 wins in the Super 12 stage and advance to the semi-finals. On the other hand, both India and New Zealand have yet to open their accounts. Both teams have played one match so far and both have lost, both of course to Pakistan. And this makes their clash against each other, which incidentally will be the next match for both these teams, a potential do or die affair.Assuming Pakistan, India and New Zealand defeat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland, the team that wins the India-New Zealand match will be the team that joins Pakistan in the semi-finals. After Pakistan beat New Zealand on Tuesday, there are now only two scenarios possible as far as Group 2 is concerned - either India beat NZ or NZ beat India. In scenario 1 - If India beat NZ - then India will finish on 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). In this scenario, Pakistan and India will be the two teams going into the semi-finals from this group. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. In scenario 2 - If New Zealand beat India - then India will end on 6 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia) and NZ will finish with 8 points (assuming they beat Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia). And if this happens, then the Kiwis will be joining Pakistan as the second team from Group 2 to qualify for the knockouts. This of course is based on the hypothesis that Pakistan, India and NZ will all beat Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland. Of course, T20 is the most fickle format of the sport and an upset is not going to be surprising. The team which loses on Sunday could still make the semis, provided the other team is upset by a lower ranked team or teams and they themselves win their remaining matches. The Men in Blue play the Black Caps on Sunday, October 31. While India vs Pakistan was a keenly followed clash for obvious reasons, India vs New Zealand will be perhaps the most crucial encounter for both these teams. India is ranked higher than NZ in the team rankings in T20I cricket, but history favours New Zealand in their more recent encounters vs India in ICC tournaments. Incredibly, the last time India beat the Kiwis in an ICC tournament was way back in the 203 ICC ODI World Cup. In fact, in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in ICC tournaments, NZ have beaten India four times In T20 clashes overall as well it's the Black Caps who hold the edge. In 16 T20I meetings between the two teams, NZ have won 8, while India won 6 of these matches. Two matches were tied. The Men in Blue team is looking forward to their second t20 worldcup title. They will have to be at their best to keep those hopes real and good. Also Read- India vs Pakistan: Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Amir engage in war of words on Twitter

I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup: Virender Sehwag

The T20 World Cup 2021 has been an eventful affair so far. The fans have been all raring to watch the action unfold in the mega event. However, in the middle of the ongoing tournament, a fan asked former India cricketer Virender Sehwag who he thinks will clinch the title this year. Sehwag is always super active across his social media platforms. The former batter never shies away from expressing his opinions on the game. Thus, whilst answering the question of the fan, Sehwag was quick enough to back the Virat Kohli-led side in the marquee event. He pinned his hopes on team India to lift the trophy this year and also asked the people to support the team at times of defeat.India only have to play better cricket here onwards: Virender Sehwag“According to me, it’s Team India who will win this T20 World Cup. They’ll only have to play better cricket here onwards. We always cheer for our team when it wins but when it loses we have to support it even more. So, I believe that India can win the T20 World Cup,” Sehwag said in his latest episode of Virugiri Dot Com on Instagram. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag)Team India did not have a positive start to their t20 worldcup campaign. The team locked horns with Pakistan in their opening fixture. Although Men in Blue entered the competition as favorites to win considering their record against Pakistan in ICC events, the team faced defeat by ten wickets. The Babar Azam-led side exuded some great character to break India’s 12 matches winning streak and registered a thumping victory. Shaheen Shah Afridi was clinical with the ball as he sent back both the openers early on. Chasing down the target of 152, Pakistan’s openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played belligerent knocks to take the team past the victory. India's next mission is against New Zealand. Both sides have lost their previous encounters with Pakistan and will be keen on getting to winning ways. It will be a crucial match for both teams as a loss here will affect their chances of reaching the semi-finals.Also Read- Neeraj Chopra, Ravi Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain among 11 recommended for Khel Ratnas

T20 World Cup: How can India still hope to qualify for the semi final

It's not the first-time cricket fans in the country have had to sit with calculators and figure out permutations and combinations in a cricket season. But for the first time in recent memory, fans of the Indian cricket team will be eagerly awaiting as Virat Kohli's men are on the brink of a shocking early exit in T20 World Cup 2021. Billed as one of the pre-tournament favourites, India have shocked quite a few with their listless performances so far at the T20 World Cup. India's body language, their mental strength has all come into question after two humbling defeats. India's campaign at the t20 worldCup got off to a terrible start as they lost to arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 points. It was Pakistan's first win over India in a World Cup match and they got it in style by chasing down a 152-run target without losing a wicket and with 13 balls to spare. A week-long break did India no good, it seems as they were hammered by 8 wickets by New Zealand, who restricted a listless indian cricketer batting line-up to just 110 in 20 overs during which they went without a boundary for 70 balls. New Zealand got past the finish line in 14.3 overs.  The two big defeats meant India's Net Run Rate has taken a massive beating. Only 2 teams will qualify from each of the two Super 12 groups and India's chances are looking bleak at the moment. What does the T20 World Cup 2021 points table look like?Did you see this coming? #T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/fxK4E0eHW7— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) October 31, 2021Pakistan is on top of the 6-team table with 3 wins in as many matches. The 2009 champions are all but through to the semi-final, as their last two matches are against associates, Scotland and Namibia. Pakistan made a statement by beating India, New Zealand and Afghanistan in their first 3 matches. It is safe to say that 3 teams are still in the race for the second spot in Group 2 of the Super 12 - Afghanistan, New Zealand and India and pretty much in that order.T20 World Cup: How can India still hope to qualify for the semi-final? India's upcoming matchesVs Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on November 3 Vs Scotland in Dubai on November 5 Vs Namibia in Dubai on November 8New Zealand's upcoming matchesVs Scotland in Dubai on November 3 Vs Namibia in Sharjah on November 5 Vs Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on November 7 Afghanistan's upcoming matchesVs India on November 3 in Abu Dhabi Vs New Zealand on November 7 in Dubai India's only chance of reaching the semi-finals is hope for a 3-way (or 4-way tie) for the semi-final spots at 6 points. If Pakistan wins one of the next two matches, it will guarantee them a place in the semi-finals. While India can't reach 8 points from hereon, Afghanistan and New Zealand can get to 8 points. Provided the more fancied teams avoid shocks in Group 2 from here on, the November 7 match between Afghanistan and New Zealand will assume a lot of importance. What do India need to reach the semi-finals?It's simple. Win all their next 3 matches and win them by big margins to boost their Net Run Rate which is reeling at -1.609. Scenario 1 India will hope they can beat Afghanistan by a big margin on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi and Mohammad Nabi's men go on to beat New Zealand in their final Super 12 match. However, if India are tied on points with Afghanistan, it's less likely that they will be able to overtake Nabi's side on Net Run Rate. Scenario 2 India should beat Afghanistan by a big margin and hope New Zealand beat Afghanistan in their final Super 12 match -- meaning, Afghanistan don't get to 6 points from here. However, New Zealand should lose to one of Namibia or Scotland as it gives Virat Kohli's men an opportunity to overtake the Black Caps' NRR.Can Scotland and Namibia help India?Well, there are more ways that India can qualify for the semi-finals. There are two unexpected as India needs Scotland and Namibia to pull off a couple of big upsets. For example, if Pakistan loses its next two games to Scotland and Namibia and India wins its next three games by a big margin, there is a chance that India going through and their arch-rivals getting knocked out in the Super 12 stages. Well, doesn't it look unlikely? India can benefit from Scotland and Namibia's victory over New Zealand, with India winning the remaining matches by a wide margin. All said and done, India have failed to live up to their reputation so far at T20 World Cup 2021. As former cricketer Vinod Kambli wrote on social media, this has been one of India's worst-ever World Cup performances, if not the worst-ever, given the talent and potential the side has been able to develop over the years. Also Read- CSK reward Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra with Rs 1 crore

T20 World Cup: India look to end campaign on winning note

  • Nov 08, 2021
  • pitchhigh
  • 1432

India will look to end their underwhelming T20 World Cup 2021 campaign on a high when they take on Namibia in the final league game on Monday. Coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli would also eye a winning end to a significant chapter in the history of Indian cricket, as Shastri and Kohli are stepping down as the head coach and T20I captain after this tournament. Against Namibia, they will surely like to win it big and skipper Kohli would do a world of good if he allows the likes of Rahul Chahar to get a game and gives Ishan Kishan another go. The senior players would gain precious little against the David Wiese's of the world save for beefing up their individual statistics. Very rarely has an Indian team played such an inconsequential game at an ICC event since its last league game in the 1992 World Cup against South Africa after already being out of the race for the semi-finals. It is not the first time that India is out of a global tournament before the last four stages, but it was not at all frustrating when one can clearly read the writing on the wall. The two losses to Pakistan and New Zealand -in which they got outplayed - had already put India on the exit path. From there, it was more of a battle pitching hope against hope and it eventually all came crashing with New Zealand's eight-wicket win over Afghanistan. And that is something that will hurt Shastri, a proud man, who has done his bit to make this a formidable all-condition Test team with a lethal fast bowling attack. Their fabulous term saw India achieve the pinnacle of Test cricket glory with back-to-back series wins in Australia, a near-win on the recent tour of England, three dominating seasons at home and a phenomenal run up to the semifinals of the 2019 ICC 50-over World Cup. This campaign also brings an end to the four-year stint of head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar, who have decided to move on. For Kohli, who is all set to even lose his ODI captaincy in the coming days, this wasn't how he would have liked to end his T20 captaincy stint with the national team having already quit IPL captaincy. It is also the first time since the 2013 Champions Trophy that an Indian men's team has failed to reach at least the semi-final stage of an ICC event. They were champions in the 50 over Champions Trophy in 2013, followed by runners-up finish in T20 World Cup in 2014. In the 2015 ODI World Cup, the team lost in the semifinals. The 2016 t20worldcup saw them reach the last four stage while they lost to Pakistan in the 2017 final of the 50-over Champions Trophy. In 2019, his ODI World Cup campaign ended in the semi-finals, and the two-year Test World Championship also ended in a final defeat. A combination of factors led to this debacle and if Kohli's poor captaincy and selection is one factor, the problems were certainly compounded by players like Hardik Pandya, who didnt reveal the full extent of their fitness status to the national selectors. However, these fatigue-levels notwithstanding, the team faltered on multiple fronts too. Shreyas Iyer and Yuzvendra Chahal's non-selection, uncertainty about who'll open, an unplanned middle-order and not having a game plan with an in-form Shardul Thakur in focus could've been aspects for the indian cricketer to look at. cricket india will take the flight back home and begin their journey to the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup under new head coach and a new captain on a fresh note. Namibia have managed to beat only Scotland so far in their Super 12 engagements after making the tournament-proper for the first time in the T20 format. Teams:India: Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakravarthy, Shardul Thakur Namibia: Namibia: Gerhard Erasmus (c), Stephen Baard, Karl Birkenstock. Virat Kohli, on Monday, ended his tenure as the captain of the India’s T20 international team with 30 wins in five years with Namibia being the latest side to go down against the Men in Blue at the ICC T20 World Cup in Dubai. Kohli was second most successful indian cricketer captain in his shortest format after Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who left the mantle in 2016 after stepping down as the white-ball captain. Kohli ends his T20I captaincy career with 30 wins and 16 losses from 50 games. He is also the second behind Australia's Aaron Finch on the list of most runs by captains in T20I cricket with 1570 runs from 47 innings at an average of 47.57 which includes 13 half-centuries. But regardless of all the batting and captaincy records, the fact that will hurt Virat Kohli the most would be the lack of ICC titles under his leadership. The T20 World Cup 2021 gave Kohli the last chance to win an ICC title in the format as captain but unfortunately, cricket india failed to make the knockouts of the tournament for the first time since the 2012 edition after crashing out in the Super 12s. The heavy defeats against Pakistan (10 wickets) and New Zealand (8 wickets) last month massively hurt indian cricketer the most in this tournament. Although Kohli managed to inspire his team to win in their next two games against Afghanistan and Scotland to keep the team's slim chances of reaching the semi-finals alive, it was not enough to keep them in the competition as New Zealand's victory over Afghanistan dashed all their hopes of advancing to the semi-final. Kohli however, will bow out on a high note as they beat the Namibians in their final match of this campaign by 9 wickets to finish third in Group 2. His deputy is the most-likely candidate to take over the reins from the home series against New Zealand next week while Kohli will switch his captaincy focus towards the one-day internationals and Tests, where he will still be eyeing his first major trophy. Also Read- PTV sends Rs 100 million defamation notice to Shoaib Akhtar

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday announced a 16-member squad for the T20I series against New Zealand at home. Rohit Sharma has been named the captain of the T20I side while KL Rahul will be his deputy for the 3-match series, starting November 17. Virat Kohli, who stepped down as T20I captain after India's early exit from the T20 World Cup, has taken a break for the series and will be back for the Tests against New Zealand to be ready in time for the tour of South Africa later this year. Rohit Sharma will join hands with newly-appointed head coach Rahul Dravid, who will take over from the New Zealand Series. India is playing two tests after the T20I series but BCCI has yet to announce the Test team. India have not made complete changes to the squad in the T20I format despite their disappointing performance at the T20 World Cup in the UAE.Also Read- Virat Kohli T20I captaincy record: India Second most successful captain after DhoniWhile Hardik Pandya is not included in 16-man squad, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and former captain Kohli have been rested.
